Serpentine

Serpentine is the regal Spiral king of his clan. Er, well, his ego is regal enough. While Serpentine is smart, he rarely shows it and often is mistaken for a rude, detached ruler due to his often-undeserved remarks and jabs. He's especially mean-spirited to male dragons, but that doesn't mean the ladies get off easy - he's extremely flirtatious and knows about seventy cheesy pick-up lines by heart.

While proud of his colors and his clan, he always goes too far and often ends up bragging about himself. He attributes all the clan's accomplishments to himself and boasts about his "leadership skills" (which many would be happy to argue). In addition, he's very childish and will start a fight or argument over the smallest of things. His temper can flare quickly, and he's not above throwing the occasional tantrum to get what he wants done. And no one really wants to deal with the flailing Spiral, so it typically gets done before he flips out.

The only person who keeps Serpentine in check is Malachi, his reliable and much more even-tempered mate. She can be just as stubborn as him, but for much better reasons (such as, "No, Serpentine, we need that food for the winter stores" and "No, Serpentine, you can't wear that hat during the clan meeting.") Her steadfastness helps keep the more temperamental Spiral calm, and most of the clan will run to her once he gets agitated.

While his abrasiveness and rude remarks are off-putting to most dragons, those who manage to stick around him do come to somewhat appreciate his knowledge and skills. Serpentine is especially good in military strategy (although you'd never find him on the battlefield) and can often be found in his war room, moving around little dragon figurines on the map and randomly quoting important military figures.

Due to his military brilliance, his clan has been safe from the Beastclans, which is more than some other nearby clans can say. The protection is a major drawing point for potential new additions to the clan, and the clan's strategic placement also adds more defense. Serpentine can rest easy and live in the lap of luxury - but only because of his own intelligence.
