Like her brother Gristle McThornbody, Slate Slabrock opted to stay with the Solar Solar instead of going to the Lightweaver's service as a soldier-monk. Unlike him, she didn't change her name (what kind of name is "David Ryder", anyway?), and didn't start hanging out with Tundras - although she did bring a Tundra friend home from a visit to Baldwin's baneful boilery, he wants to run with the clan's Mirrors! Surprisingly, Silver Gleamlode is actually a very effective hunter, even if he can't digest meat.

At some point after that sketch was drawn, however, Slate Slabrock obtained one of the nigh-unobtainable Wildclaw Scrolls, and read it within seconds of doing so; Silver Gleamlode didn't, and still doesn't, understand why she didn't want to stay a Mirror. Over the months since her change, they've discussed breed differences quite a lot indeed, especially after his Tundra father went off to work for the Stormcatcher, while his Skydancer mother went to the Southern Icefields, ancestral home of Tundras.

They still hunt together despite Slate Slabrock's new shape, and have had occasional nests as well. Lately, both have been thinking of seeing how far they can go before the clan gestalt fades, and making a small den there, just within its influence; they tested this idea by establishing a small watchpost during Light's glorious battle to have dominance for the week ending and the week beginning the calendar year.

The watchpost was so successful that they maintained it; it was marvelously helpful to the clan during Light's glorious three weeks of dominance (for Brightshine Jubilee and the two weeks following it), and also quite helpful in enriching the clan in the time between battles. Then came Light's fight against Earth, right before Slate Slabrock's third Night of the Nocturne, and the watchpost outside the wards was now both undefended and largely indefensible. Towards the end of the battle, Slate Slabrock and Silver Gleamlode were attacked, and while she was armored, he was not. They managed to slow the wave of wendigos, and the wards held thanks to the gestalt having been warned in advance, but it wasn't until the next morning before help arrived for the watchpost, and the clan's healers were too worn out to do more than stabilize Silver Gleamlode.

They're remaining in the watchpost - no one knows what dangers may come - but the clan's Mirrors are remaining nearby as one unified swarm, even David Ryder, so that they can assist if needed.

After the clan began sending assistance to archaeology projects, she was able to adopt rock-like patterns over herself, as her parents' naming of her had predicted so many years before.
