    Wilhynd was found by Tantavein and Opalmist as a hatchling, lost and terrified by the things that walk in the shadows in the Starwood Strand. The two Pearlcatchers took her to Atlas's camp to live, since when she matured, being a Snapper she wouldn't be able to fly and thus would have to live on the mainland. Wilhynd accepted this as fact and lived happily alongside her fellow Snapper, who taught her all about the history of Sornieth. A dragon named Naighara would also sometimes come and teach her about the stars and the Arcanist, who, as she said, "Is your deity as much as mine, now." Amazed by the kindness of the dragons she has been raised by, and no longer scared by the Starwood Strand, Wilhynd has become a nearly-perfect Arcane dragon, all curiosity and dreams.

    But a part of her remains with the Wind Flight. Her flightless-ness was fact until Emyrs the Wind dragon heard about her. The Spiral came and, when she was old enough, taught her how to use her innate Wind magic to provide enough lift to fly, like he had seen so many Snappers do back in the Windswept Plateau. This was the greatest gift Wilhynd was sure any dragon could ever give her, for now she could spend her nights closer than ever to the stars that beckon.
