adopted in a wind thread for 3k (pretty sure I got him as a hatchling)
the stories of human ancient greek interest him, particularly the messenger god, hermes, who he feels he'd like to be someday - to traverse between the world of the divine and the mortal. he wished humans were still around, in a way that it seemed it would be amusing to watch them like how the gods did.
the idea that humans fought each other to chase immortality was just so silly.
for now, he contents himself as the clan's unofficial messenger, volunteering for the position as soon as he was deemed an adult rather than a mere hatchling. his youthfulness is what allows him to fly with such agility and precision, but...how to explain? He finds flying itself amazing, but moreso when he knows he is going to somewhere "below" or vastly "different". It makes him feel like the god from those stories he admires.
he often delivers letters to a clan in the Tangled Wood. apparently this clan and theirs are rather close knitted, but how so Dawn had no clue, until one time he decided to read one of the letters. Needless to say, he decided not to open those letters anymore. They were very personal, he realised. Also he was shocked to learn that his fellow dragons were gay (not that it wasn't uncommon in Sorienth, he just never thought that, well...you get the idea).
the Tangled Wood at first intimidated him - after all, he was a very bright dragon in such a dark area. As time passed though, he started to learn the ways of the murky groves, and it was helpful that the clan he often visited would give him advice on such things. He would sometimes feel watchful eyes on him, though, as he found himself almost trespassing on the borders of other clans there. conquering his innate fear of the dark took time, and up to this day he sometimes jumps at the slightest noise there. ("Oh, Hermes, if you can hear me, please protect me from the things that go bump in the night!")
dawn is farsighted, and so only wears his glasses when he's on the ground, mostly to read. often he keeps those glasses in his satchel while he's flying. his cap also seems to reside in that bag during flight, among the letters, notebooks, and writing materials he carries. Unlike most dragons who only experience blurriness in their vision as they grow older, Dawn was afflicted with it since he was a hatchling. It was Sawyer who noticed this, as he too needed corrections to his sight. He hence managed to find a similar pair and give it to the young Skydancer.
