He left the tangled undergrowth of Shadow as soon as he could, and traveled immediately north towards the Viridian Labyrinth, his hopes rising inexorably as he flew across the narrow channel. Nature would accept him; he was sure of it. He would find his true home among the plants, and he’d finally feel like he was home-

When he was rejected entry, it came as a crushing blow.

Unfortunately, Slyth had arrived at precisely the wrong time, when Shadow and Nature were warring over dominance of Sornieth. He’d never paid much attention to dominance battles, but he realized now how destructive they could be, as he was hailed as a spy and turned away from the one place he’d always longed to be.

Devastated, Slyth wandered aimlessly, turning up by pure chance on the clan’s doorstep. He’d lost his will to live and was severely depressed at that point. Of course, seeing a dragon in need of help, Zira took him in.

For weeks, all Slyth would do was lie outside, staring around at the twisted steppes of Wind territory and staying silent. The melodies of the wind murmured their way into his mind, and finally he began to move once more, humming simple tunes as he stood and wandered over to clumps of flowers.

The tunes became more complex as he healed, and the book of flowers he’d kept while a hatchling in Shadow territory grew and filled with his cramped handwriting. Slyth finally rediscovered his love for plants and realized they did, in fact, grow in places other than Nature territory. Now he hums quiet melodies whenever he’s alone, helps hatchlings recognize dangerous plants, and assists in anything the clan might need a herbalist for.

He never looks north towards the Behemoth.
