Being born from the Wyrmwound, a child of Plaguebringer, Craquele decided from a young age that he was meant for big things. When he was called upon to do his due diligence, he leapt at the chance to aid in carrying his plague around Sornieth. He has been promised to be found a forever home upon the completion of his task, and he can't wait for his adventure to begin...

Craquele felt positively ebullient. How could the thought of the work they six were setting about not fill one with joy? The thought of Sornieth driving away all traces of the Shade-plague filled the Plague Mirror with pride.

He came upon a Light clan’s lair. They were so very fond of nesting in ruins weren’t they? Though it might have been considered odd for a child of might to move to the realm of knowledge-seekers, it struck Craquele that perhaps some of his kin had found kindred spirits among the bones of an age long dead.
Some of the metal panelling looked distinctly Lightning in make however. The Mirror gave a panel a tap.

The idea of a Fae minding the entrance seemed as charmingly odd as some of the ‘tenets’ someone had decided to inscribe overhead.
A quarantine? Craquele was encouraged. They’d already had a visit from one of his comrades. Perhaps Yersinia, who was as swift as she was effective, though Gangrenous could be a surprising one.

By this point, the Plague Mirror practically ignored the Fae’s attempts at preventing entry. He wasn’t going to be deterred now. He had greetings from the Plaguemother to bring.

Once he had forced his way inside and introduced himself, Craquele set about spewing infectious material throughout the halls. Was that a sentry squawker behind him? Oh, he would lead a merry chase.

Finally, one more mirror to go and the Skies of Ember clan would be back to normal again!

The rolling exercises had a good effect on them days ago, even if they were all suffering from Thesis' disease, the Skies of Ember clan remained in good spirits. The whole clan learned that being infected wasn't only a physical challenge but also a psychological one. They learned that once in awhile one shouldn't take all what's happening to them seriously and taking breaks brings back one's zest for life.

When Craquele arrived, the whole clan gave him a very warm welcome and even prepared a feast for him: a variety of seafood, meat and vegetables.

8826.png10665.png128.png13411.png1192.png4799.png

Then as done previously, the let the mirror infect the whole clan as he needed to. At the end of the day, the clan related their encounters of the previous mirrors, from Toxo's kidnapping, Gangrene's training infection, Yersinia's sneaky visit, Grippe's quick one, to 'Thesis' rolling session. Craquele could only smile at their accounts for his mirror comrade's they had done their duties in succession. Hopefully Craquele's mission would be as successful as his fellow mates.

nXlXzmms.jpg?1.jpg

Craquele was then dressed up in Plague apparel to commemorate the end of the clan's immunization and battle against the Shade plague. Then one by one the clan honored each mirror that visited the clan and then finally a toast to Craquele. "To Craquele who bravely volunteered to travel across foreign dangerous lands for the sake of Sornieth!' "To Craquele!" the clan said in unison. But the mirror didn't stay long like his fellow mirrors and so bade them goodbye.

satc_cheers.gif

And like Toxo's first visit the parting was sad for the whole clan but they were entirely grateful for the mirrors as they were proud that they had a part in battling against the Shade plague. This definitely is one series of events that the clan would never forget in their lifetime.

Though the dragons of Clan Scatterspark were still worn out from their myriad illnesses, they couldn't help being in a celebratory mood when Craquele came to visit. This was it, the last of their plagues! They've withstood so much already, and they can withstand this too, and the Shade Plague, if it ever comes. Most of the clanmembers dragged themselves out of bed to meet Craquele, draping him with flowers and inviting him in for supper.

He told them of his journeys so far, and they told him of his siblings' visits (stories he found delightful). With patience, they held still and allowed him to infect them, one by one, though Lush and Tristan couldn't help moaning about the state of their beautiful scales once Craquele had moved on to his next patient. Craquele admired the work of the Infectionists before him, as well as the resiliency of these dragons.

He was eager to continue on his way, though, aiding the rest of Sornieth. They bid him a warm farewell, packing gifts of food and trinkets for him, and watched as he raced off to fulfill the rest of his destiny.

After having suffered through five plagues, Clan Twinstar was utterly devastated. Their resources were nearly gone, and most of the clan was weak from starvation. They had no idea if they could survive one more plague.
This time, there was no welcoming party to greet Craquele when he arrived at the clan's stronghold. The gates were wide open, and most of the dragons were inside the spire, where the clan's medics, with the last of their strength, were trying their best to heal everyone up.
Before long, they and everyone else would have more pressing matters on their minds. The whole clan suddenly found their scales had become very itchy and painful, thanks to Craquele's disease, Dermatitis. It was all the clan could do to keep themselves from scratching themselves like crazy, and none of the potions that they had on hand were able to ease their suffering. Leon's potions might have been more useful, but the Plague dragon had little interest in helping them out, since he was the one who had invited the Mirrors to infect Clan Twinstar in the first place. No, they would have to fight off these diseases themselves. He wasn't about to make things easier for them.
Just as it seemed like Clan Twinstar could take no more of this, several dragons from a neighboring Arcane clan arrived, determined to drive out what they thought was a Plague flight invasion of the Starwood Strand. But when they arrived, Craquele was already gone, and all they found instead was a bunch of Arcane dragons lying about helplessly.
The neighboring clans quickly set to work providing aid to Clan Twinstar, nursing them back to health and working quickly to repair and resupply their stronghold. Little did the visitors know that in the process of helping Kelran and his clan, they themselves had contracted the same diseases Clan Twinstar had just fought off. By the time the symptoms would start to manifest themselves, the rescuers would be back home, ready to infect their own clans and spread the diseases throughout Arcane territory, just as the Plaguebringer had hoped.
Still, Clan Twinstar had survived. They didn't feel any stronger, but somehow they couldn't shake the feeling that this ordeal had changed them, in a way.
Deep within his quarters, the Plague dragon, Leon, cracked a smile. He knew he had done his part to help protect Sornieth from the Shade Plague. Hopefully Kelran and the rest of his clan had learned a few things about survival from all this. And maybe, just maybe, they would know better than to question the Imperial's decisions in the future. Satisfied with what he had accomplished, Leon started up his cauldron and went back to work on his alchemy. Those potions weren't going to brew themselves, after all!

By the time Craquelle - the last of the innoculators - had made it to the lair, there were few dragons actually able to acknowledge him. He was met at the borders by Shaula, the clan's Plague ambassador, a Plague Sprite and a Deadland Disciple. They explained to him the clan's plan to solely take samples to turn into an innoculation instead of spreading the disease to each dragon, but that a certain spiral had managed to crash into some of the samples, spreading thev illnesses throughout the clan.
8142051p.png1987.png14122.png

Craquelle walked through the lair which seemed almost deserted except for a few familiars trying to help some weak dragons do their chores. They made their way to the Mages & Medics lair to pass on Craquele's disease to the clan, and to pass on additional survival tips, and to discuss the progress made so far in fighting the Shade Plague.

As a thank you for his service, and to celebrate surviving the last disease coming through the lair, the dragons who were able as welll as the familiars put on a small meal in Craquele's honour and dressing him in all the apparel of an honored servant of the Plaguebringer. After the celebration, Craquele quickly gathered his things together to carry on his final leg of his journey.

In Lair

This time, Mina was ready. As Craquele landed, stumbling onto the shore, there were dragons there to meet him. He "stumbled" into both of them as he passed, leaving the irritating plant oil from his skin on both of them. They stiffened, but forced themselves to relax as they led Craquele through the clan. The clan leaders brought him some food for the journey he'd made and the journey yet to come. Marrow came up to greet him and ask what she'd be treating this time. There was an air of forced friendliness in the clan, but they were welcoming anyway. Some tried to give him clothing, but most made him uncomfortable so he politely turned most of the offers away. He did accept another wing harness from Rigil though, to make his flight back across the ocean easier.
Craq spread his infection throughout the clan, this time with permission.
Craquele was the last of the carrier dragons to come to their lair, and for that Onslaught was grateful; his clan members were all in various states of being sick, and with this last dragon taking refuge in their lair would signify the end of this experiment.

Yet, Onslaught and many of the others, were very ill, too ill to play host to the visiting Plague dragon. All those with a pulse, in any case.

That was how Ramona, a Zombie dragon from the Scarred Waste Land and kept alive by her Necromancer mate's magic, that volunteered to take the newbie under her decaying wing. After all, one who is already the living dead can not get sick.

For the days that Craquele had lived with in the lair of fire, he and Ramona frolicked among the dragons of her clan, spreading the life saving disease among her clan mates, preparing them for when the Shade Plague came knocking at their door.

The clan's Trick of the Light, frolicked along with the two dragons, just like those who came before, acting as a guard for Craquele, until the time came for him to move on.
{Excuse the short story, again.}

Craquele soon arrived to the black sand clan. It was a bit awkward for him, since he didn't know anyone or anything. Soon, however, he met Perilite and Aurore. The three began chatting with each other, having a few laughs. Soon his time was over and he had to go onto the next flight. With a smile and a wave, Craquele took off to the skies and continued on spreading.

Lovely chat with the two oracles

After reaching the Sea of a Thousand Currents, Craquele was escorted to the bottom of Leviathan Trench, where the Clan of Roaring Waters lived. Here Craquele faced a dilemma - how was he supposed to spread dry, itchy skin to dragons that lived surrounded by water?

Meanwhile, the clan rejoiced at Craquele's arrival, partly because he was the last Mirror to visit, partly because his disease was a mild one that they knew how to treat effectively. Because the clan lived underwater but frequently traveled to other areas to scavenge, sell, and buy goods, explained Thistlepuff, the dragons did a lot of swimming. All that swimming removed the protective oils on their scales, which made them dry and itchy. Because of that, the majority of dragons in the lair had contracted Eczema craquelé at least once in their lifetimes, and the clan had many lotions and body creams meant to treat it.

Craquele pouted at the fact that he wasn't giving the clan resistance to any new diseases, but Radiance, the clan leader, assured him that he was fulfilling a very important mission by strengthening other flights in preparation for the Shade Plague. To celebrate, she declared that all dragons should go out swimming to wash the oils from their scales. Craquele played with the other dragons as they splashed in the waves and lounged on the beach. After some begging, Craquele was allowed to wear rogue apparel and a chest guard so he could fight in the Kelp Beds, as well as a painted face mask for courage and an Infectionist's Emblem to signify that he was an honored ambassador of the Plaguebringer.

Finally the day came to an end, and Craquele thanked the clan for hosting him, as frequent swimming and bathing would make their scales dry and itchy. Before he left, Thistlepuff gifted Craquele a jar of eczema cream, made from vegetable oil, beeswax, and certain herbs. While Craquele protested against it in principle, he couldn't deny how cool and soothing it felt against his cracked scales. He decided to take one jar with him as a souvenir. Maybe the doctors at home would be interested in it...

It had been a long journey but Craquele knew his mission was almost done, soon Sornieth would be protected by the gift of the Plaguebringer. When he spotted the Great Pillar, he began to slow his pace down and started looking for anyone that could be from the next lair he was to visit. As he was nearing an outcrop of rocks, two mirrors appeared from out of nowhere. Both were females and it looked like the brown piebald one was in charge, for she turned her head to address the black one. "You see Anisa, I told you he'd be here soon!"

The one called Anisa gave a derisive snort, then chuckled, "Oh right, right. That's why you had us running up Shim bluff? I suppose Avyanna, you're going to tell me next that the jog through Demon's Canyon was a short-cut?" Avyanna hissed at her companion before turning her attention back to Craquele. "Excuse my friend here...we really should head back to the lair, everyone's waiting to meet you!"

The three headed off at a leasurely pace in consideration of their guest, who had been traveling across Sornieth almost non stop. When they reached the lair, there were many dragons sunning outside as the day was pleasant and warm. The Plague mirror could tell they were recovering from his bond siblings previous visits, some still had lingering coughs. "Welcome Craquele to clan Manatou", offered a female fae, who had to be the matriarch since she was accompanied by a male of the same breed. "I'm sorry we can't offer you better hospitality but most of the staff are still getting over Phthisis' visit." There was a note of distate in her voice as a shudder ran through her tiny body, the male gently patted her hand as he directed his gaze across the lounging dragons sprawled across the ground. "We've managed to survive this long dear, why look! They're all recovering and Minnie says she now has the key to preventing any future breakouts, so in the end it was all worth it."

Banae sighed as she weakly nodded, then looked at Craquele. "At least you're last and from what I understand, the easiest of all six diseases to survive. In fact, I believe everyone is rather glad and will be more than willing to accept your infection." There was a suspicious note of humor as she finished, it was probably due to relief. So the Plague dragon started with the clan leaders, then made his way around the small groups of sun bathers.

By the time he was done, almost everyone was itching and scratching at dry patches of skin. He sought out the small leaders and courteously bowed, then straightened as he said, "It has been not only a pleasure but an honor as well, to accept your hospitality. May the Plaguebringer ever protect your lair. Now I must be going, there's still a couple of stops I need to make in order to complete my mission. Oh..", he paused as he bowed in respect. "Thank you for accepting the challenge set by our Mother, you have earned great honor in this. Goodbye and long life, may all your hatchlings prosper!" With that, he was off and soon disappeared. Behind him, a clan in recovery was the best sign that he and his siblings did a job well done.

When Craquele heard a sudden, high-pitched screech, he nearly had a heart attack.
Awkwardly landing nearby where he heard the yell, he scrambled along towards where the sound had come from.
“Was that good, Hermes? Be honest,” Genesis asked after catching her breath. “It was great!” Hermes replied, a smile gracing his face. At that moment, both coatls turned when a mirror hurtled out of a bush.
“Uhm. Hello?” Genesis said, watching Craquele scramble to his feet. “What happened, who’s hurt??” Craquele asked, glancing around. Hermes tilted his head slightly. “Nobody’s hurt, why?”
“I just heard someone's death screech!”
“Oh! You really thought it was a death screech? REALLY?” Genesis squealed. “I have been practicing that screech for ages! We have a show coming up and that screech is so important!!!” Genesis ran over and glomped onto Craquele, she planted a huge kiss on his cheek. “I'm so grateful that you think I'm good!”
“Hermes grabbed Genesis by her tail, “Genesis, get off that poor guy! Let him breath!” Genesis reluctantly released Craquele. He smiled weakly and said that if there was no trouble he really needed to get going. You know, places to go, people to see. Craquele barely escaped getting mobbed by Genesis before he could launch into flight. He thought that couldn't have been easier, thank goodness for those theatre types!

The final plague to greet Starsky was met with nothing but silence. For such a lively area, one would expect to be met with the noise of life, but nothing. Craquele had found the dragons easily enough, they were all huddled in a mass, one dragon walking around and tending to them. The green coatl looked up at the final plague and sighed, letting him get to work. It was working, she could tell that much, but taking care of 20 depressed dragons with an assortment of illnesses was taxing. He finished soon enough and left with a nod of acknowledgement from the coatl. This was it.
