Proud and with a take charge attitude, Riko is the Merry Going Spark's Chief Lair Architect (and chief gossip, to no one's surprise). Artistic and stubborn, Riko sometimes butts heads with his clan members, but no dragon has ever come away disliking any of his lair designs. He takes meticulous care planning each clan member's lair space, taking into consideration the dragon's breed, gender, tastes, personality, history, and even magical affinity. This dedication has earned him the gratitude and respect of his clan mates.

When first Riko arrived he had no tertiary gene, leaving him with a grey palette that he thought bland and lacking. This made him feel insecure (especially in such a diverse clan), which he hid by being bossy and snobbish. Being one of the only two Pearlcatchers in the clan and not a fighter also made him start to question his place in the clan. With more and more dragons of different breeds, genes, and colors continuing to join - more and more he became envious and insecure. He didn't let this affect his designs, but the same could not be said of his relationships with his clan members. At one point Riko felt so out of place that he nearly left the clan, but Mae and Kree convinced him to stay and talk about what was wrong.

After finally revealing his insecurities and difficulty with his envy of other dragons, the Merry Going Spark's leaders reassured him that he was a valued member of the clan whose work creating homes was just as important as the guards who protected them, and that none of the other dragons were judging or looking down on him because of his appearance. While his behavior might need to be toned down to avoid tensions, they explained, most of Merry Going Spark loved his snark and flare for dramatics (as long as things didn't get too insulting that is). They told him that if he truly believed a change would make him happier, both Mae and Kree would assist him in either obtaining a scatter scroll or getting new genes, but also to remember that he was accepted here no matter what he looked like. Comforted, Riko agreed to stay, think things over, and work on his attitude. While he felt better about himself and relations with clan mates were starting to improve, Riko still wanted to change something about his outward appearance. With Mae and Kree's support he went to check out what was on offer at a Gene Specialist Shop in the nearest marketplace.

A magic scroll was used to reveal teal as his natural tertiary color and how different genes would look on him. The Pearlcatcher was very taken with the Thylacine gene and how the teal contrasted with the rest of his grey body. He decided changing everything about his appearance would be unnecessary after all, and purchased only the new gene. Now he proudly struts about the clan's territory, and his self acceptance has made him quite a bit more agreeable - though he's still snarky and, frankly, a snob. That will never change.

Incidentally, even though Riko loves to be adorned in fancy and colorful garb - especially purple - he generally adopts beasts with all grey bodies such as the Shale Thresher (dubbed Steve) and Cumulus Seal (Miss Froufrou). Perhaps he doesn't want the poor things to feel bad about themselves like he had, or perhaps he doesn't hate grey as much as he claims... Then again he does tend to dress them with gaudy jewelry and colorful bows so maybe he just wants to decorate them...

The fact that fellow Pearlcatcher Wicca doesn't partake in gossiping absolutely scandalizes him. ((More to come... maybe. Man, I use a lot of commas...))
