Koa was the first dragon to join Anemoi and Venti when clan Helarnia was founded, and as such is a well-respected member of the lair. He is also the most frequently underestimated; he has a soft, sweet voice, and a gentle manner, but he's an extremely powerful mage. He has a strong fascination with explosives and destructive spells; fortunately, he is generally able to conduct his magical experiments on enemies in the Coliseum, where they do more good than harm for the clan. He gets along very well with Elva, but the two of them are never to be left alone - she has a tendency to encourage his more...bombastic spell ideas. (The last time they spent more than an hour alone together the plant storage room exploded in a purple and green fire, and the lair smelled like burnt sour spinach for weeks!) His mate, Fayne, usually keeps his experiments in check, although lately she's been too busy to keep track of what he's up to all of the time.

Although not inherently violent, Koa is territorial, and he has little tolerance for beastclans that encroach on his clan's territory. He keeps meticulous notes on what works best on the battlefield, and lately he's been experimenting with alchemy to develop new spells and weapons.

Sharp was one of the only familiars back in the early days of the lair that wasn't utterly terrified of Koa. No one's quite sure why she's so taken with him; Koa himself believes that she's as fond of explosions as he is. Fayne believes that she's an intelligent little creature, and that she's noticed that the safest place to be when Koa is in an experimental mood is right in the center of the blasts, next to Koa himself.

Tramontane

Koa is a member of team Tramontane, consisting of himself, Anemoi, Venti, and Fayne. (He and Fayne swap out, depending on whether the situation calls for a caster who specializes in healing or a caster who specializes in explosions.) Tramontane was the lair's first coliseum party; they fed the lair single-handedly in its early days and still regularly patrol the Cloudsong, keeping an eye out for dragons in need of help or beastclan infiltrators .

Family & Friends

Koa is mated to Fayne. They have one daughter, Cenue, who has chosen to stay in the lair. Cenue is mated to Wyrrik, the son of Ysolt, Jasper, and Ealan.

Before Koa and Fayne had settled as a bonded pair, Koa had a son, Avaryu, with Calypso. Calypso is now mated to Sawel.

Avaryu had one son, Phaeton, with Elva. The pair later split up, with Elva returning to a permanent bond with Mathas. Phaeton is mated to Panori. Elva and Mathas have a daughter, Tesona, who is Phaeton's half-sister. Tesona is mated to Kerwyn, the son of Link and Solryn.

Avaryu has another son, Levalis, with his permanent mate, Feng. Levalis is mated to Melli, the daughter of Luan and Rixel. Melli has a sister, Ailyth, who is also a permanent resident of the lair. Ailyth is mated to Mouric.

Koa is close friends with Anemoi, Venti, Feng, Mathas, Elva, Panori, Spreth, Aletheia, Bevan, Quara, and Daelin.
