Arcturus stumbled into the arms of the Arcana completely on accident as a young dragon, knowing nothing of his subspecies' heritage or, in fact, that he belonged to a subspecies at all. Of course the clan took him in simply for being a wayward soul (as they are want to do) and with his humorous, kind, and easygoing nature, he fit in and began to make friends instantly. Arcturus is a bit of a gourmand and has a passion for food; he rarely does anything halfway (at least, not anything he truly loves) and plays an important role in the clan's kitchens, wanting to ensure that everyone is always sufficiently fed.
Shortly after he integrated into the group, Arcturus was surprised when two of his clanmates returned with Antares, a dragon to whom he bore a striking resemblance but couldn't possibly be related to. He was immediately fascinated by her presence and went out of his way to get to know her and make her feel comfortable, although she was shy and distant at first. Cassiterite explained to him that they had discovered Antares quite by accident on a research mission; she had been separated from her former clan and explained the history of her subspecies, the Crystalspines, to them. When the little spiral passed this information along to Arcturus, suddenly a lot of things about his life began to fall into place.
Arcturus is a kind, caring, and gentle fellow, and apparently a hopeless romantic to boot; he fell for Antares immediately and was utterly dedicated to doing whatever it took to make her comfortable in her new home, even if that meant leaving her alone altogether, which it often did. He was curious about the fact that they shared a heritage he had never known, and as time went on and they grew more comfortable around one another, she told him more and more about what they were known for - the way they could see through anyone's emotional facade, their unparalleled clairvoyant abilities, their natural camouflage in the Crystalspine Reaches after which their species was named, their affinity with both the chalcedony mountains and the sea, their innate abilities to console and emotionally heal. With her - because of her - everything made sense in a way it never had before. With her, he felt truly at home.
Over time, the two found that Arcturus fit these traits to a fault, but his interest in seeing visions lay solely with his love for Antares. He has learned the history and their methods, their particular way of scrying in their own or one another's crystalline scales, but only because it is so important to her. Left to his own devices he may have eventually discovered these talents, but preserving the Crystalspine culture would never have occurred to him. Antares saw that he wasn't particularly interested in books and learning and thought they would have nothing in common, but he put forth such a wonderful effort simply on her behalf that with time, he, too, became irresistible to her.
Arcturus is a wonderful father, and the pair only breed very occasionally, trying to ensure that each of their offspring gets the love and attention they deserve, but his welcoming and inclusive attitudes don't only extend to his immediate family. Although Nocturnes are not known to eat fish, Arcturus spends a great deal of time on the piece of the territory that meets the sea, fishing and tending his nets, as well as developing a system of hydroponics for the gardens that feed the clan. He wants to make sure that everyones' dietary needs are met and exceeded, and goes out of his way to cook and invent new, exciting, flavorful dishes that will appeal to anyone.
Likewise, and similar to Antares, Arcturus is immensely approachable; no matter the hour of the day or what task is at hand, anyone can walk up to him and request his advice, launch into a tale of emotional turmoil, or simply ask for a hug, and Arcturus has no qualms accommodating them. Many members of the clan insist that they rely on his quick wit and classic dad jokes to lift them out of a sour mood, and he has become a deeply loved and respected member of his clan as well as a progenitor for his subspecies, two families he never knew he had until they came together in the most miraculous of ways.
