Biography
One day, when Furiosa was hardly more than a new hatchling, her mother left the clan. There was no rhyme or reason behind it; she was there, and then she was not, and no dragon could say where she had gone. Furiosa lived on as normal, too young to understand what had happened. Then, later, before she had learned to fly, her father went off hunting during a blizzard and never came back. Finding herself suddenly and unexpectedly alone, she turned to the rest of the clan in search of parental guidance.
Her instinct was to gravitate to Rakuna, whose general coloring and build could evoke hazy and distant memories of her long-lost mother. Rakuna, singularly terrible at mothering and perpetually aggravated by the mimetic behavior inherent to the Nocturne breed, could not act as a replacement mother and did not even try. This did not stop Furiosa from following her everywhere she went and emulating her in all things, however, and eventually the Guardian came to accept—or tolerate, at least—her much smaller shadow.
