Kyrmis

Kyrmis was always closer to her father than her mother. Her mother, Lulu, was a visiting dragon from another clan. Her father, Broderic, was enamored by Lulu’s shimmery wings and, surprised at her interest in him, agreed to a clutch with her. Her father was overjoyed when Kyrmis was born. Having a child with shimmer wings had been one of his dreams, and even having a child with one gene was still a big deal for the clan. The clan fawned over the entire clutch, but particular favoritism was shown to Kyrmis. Her big green eyes often glowed with happiness and no one could deny that she belonged. She was a curious child, always wandering off in search of her newest adventure. Even as a hatchling, she quickly mastered every instrument presented to her. Yet, her dream did not lie in music; she dreamed of exploring every flight and knowing all their secrets. When her mother returned to her own clan, she took her two sons with her. Despite her initial wish to take home the whole clutch, she understood that Kyrmis was happier in her birth clan. As she grew older, she left the clan to explore for short periods, but always returned to the place she felt was home.

Every time she returned home, she saw happy couples nesting and filling the lair with little hatchlings. Yet, she was never home long enough to have hatchlings of her own, and she never really met a male she felt was capable of rearing her hatchlings while she was away. One day, when the lair was being expanded, one of the mover dragons dropped a heavy rock on one of her wings, snapping it. She received a set of metal wings which allow her to fly short distances, but she will never be able to fly long distances again. Devastated, she went to visit the new in-clan doctor to see if any of his magic may allow her to truly fly once more. And so she met her mate, Shock. He tried his best to heal her wing, but once a spiral’s wing is broken, they never really fly again.
