ASTERINA
Trader Like the wolf companions she seems to attract, Asterina often appears to others as stern and serious, but, in truth, is neither unkind nor unwelcoming. Although a little withdrawn, perhaps due to her dedication to her work, she is mild mannered and soft hearted, never quick to temper. Asterina was born as the princess of an extremely prosperous clan of wind. One day destined to become the queen and rule, as a hatchling her time was spent being taught the ways of the court and diplomacy, how to dress, and speak, and act in a manner befitting a princess - a true lady. Soon becoming frustrated with the little control she had over her own life, the day before she was to undergo the ceremony of her ascension to the royal court and receive her regal name, she took her most treasured possessions from her hoard and stole away into the night, never to return. Out in the world for the first time, having never before left her clan, Asterina was taken aback by the number of clans who struggled for treasure and food, but was struck by the generosity of their brethren. Even so, it didn’t seem enough; Asterina immediately set out to help. Through no small amount of hard work, Asterina founded Umbral Underground, with the intention of helping as many clans as possible. Always working, she uses her silver tongue to mimic the charm of other dragons and gently coaxes them into parting with their apparel, but with a fierce rebellious streak, it is not uncommon for Asterina to accompany Corbin in his work, often calling upon desperate measures outside of desperate times. The pair of them hidden in the night, they raid the hoards of richer clans while they sleep to better provide for the clans of the Tangled Wood less gifted with treasure. Whilst Sandy is too diligent in his hoard guarding to allow this, Asterina has...persuaded him to part with a few items. Perhaps all her diplomatic training wasn’t a total waste. An altruist at heart, she loves to see clans prosper and flourish, their lairs spreading over The Tangled Wood like the bioluminescent mushrooms for which she is named; but with more and more clans serving under the Shadowbinder, Asterina’s work is never done. |
