Biography

Serithal
(Sair-eh-thaull) (AKA Bard/Skald)
Yi8U9eL.png Forgotten Poet's Tools vjO547Q.png

Most fitting song: Blind Guardian - A Past and Future Secret
Former home: A certain Lightning Clan...

Position: Poet and Bard: Serithal is a literary knight, striding bold-faced into the world with a pen for a sword. Mastering the meter and rhyme of lyrics has become his profession, and his storytelling in the Kith has put Solx more in danger of replacement than any Spiral could.

Relationships

Parents: (Amethal & Sirana): Serithal's parentage is something that should never be subject to conversation, unless you want the stories he tells to turn frighteningly dark. Serithal comes from what he deems a broken home, with a father who loved no one for more than a fleeting nest after the departure of his first mate, Serithal's mother.

Siblings:
(Ameran): Serithal's poetic distaste for his parents is perhaps only overcome by his hate for his only brother. The two's personalities differ vastly, leading them to fight on every occasion that they're together. The split of their parents affected Serithal far worse than Ameran, and although nothing in the situation was Ameran's fault, much of the anger that Serithal felt was taken out on his brother for his nonchalance.

It doesn't help that Serithal judges his brother harshly for his choice of mate: rather, the way he flitted through life without one before settling down briefly with a thrice-widowed warrior. The reminder of their father is too keen, and scathing poetry has been written about Ameran's character, that which is often best not repeated. The only blessing Serithal thinks of his brother for is giving him his niece and nephew...

Mate:(Facenda
): Serithal has had a turbulent journey with love. Freshly moved into Wind, he wrote about love as the most mystical, all-encompassing, euphoric treasure in the world...and when praised for his poems, he harshly called them fiction, hurling at his audience a clawful of the truth, crumpled in a trashbin and bleeding ink.

Serithal blames his family for his twisted opinions of romance. His parents divorced and his father became a throw-away casanova. His brother took on a widow for a few nests, then departed her company. For the longest time, the only dragon beautiful enough to catch Serithal's own gaze was his own brother's daughter, Amopé—an affection that Serithal was deeply ashamed of, and became the subject of hundreds of ripped-apart poems.

But Facenda changed this. Facenda came into his life on summer wind with a crown of leaves and a laugh like music, and suddenly, Serithal could write again without hating himself. Suddenly, the pages filled themselves under the swiftness of his claws, and the words flowed even when parchment was not present. Serithal's mind sluiced out his adoration for her and the thought of her never left his mind. Without knowing it, he'd stumbled upon the very thing he'd dedicated his youth and his very profession to scorning: love.

Inviting her aside from festivities with the Kith, Serithal talked with Facenda alone, and the duo learned that they adored each others' company up close—and not just from afar, as Serithal had been blushing so far. Their walks in gardens and talks alone became more frequent until Facenda chose Serithal as her mate.

Offspring:

(Ibis
): Ibis is incredibly self-conscious over his crackled coat, and Serithal feels guilty for bestowing it upon him. In spite of this, the two have a good relationship. Serithal is especially delighted by his son's creativity, and is proud and supportive of all his works.

(Tern): Whatever guilt Serithal feels for Ibis, he feels it tenfold for Tern, and still feels he should've been able to protect her from her condition. He loves her so much.

(Third): A

(Other): Even before Serithal had children of his own, he cared greatly for his niece and nephew, Amerlin and Amopé. He once wrote of himself as ushering them under his wing and guardianship, since they, too, have divorced parents as he does.

Friends:
(All): Like Vancerred
, Serithal was one of the "Lightning Youth" who grew up in roughly the same generation, helped raise each other, and now look to move on to a new home. He's one of many in a long line to take the step after Van into Wind, and not the last.

Among the youth, he's the quiet observer. He tends to muse aloud to himself around others, participating in conversations only to take what's useful and interesting from what's said, and pays for his new inspiration by leaving a fragment of prose in his wake. He speaks in quote for the majority of his speech, so others learn about him not from his own ideals, but by the kind of ideals he chooses to voice. It's difficult to find his true nature under his layers of pages, but Vancerred and Luppia (both minorly social in their own right) speak volumes of his personality.

Familiar: Hurricane Herald (Hurricane Herald): Serithal has a stormy opinion of Familiars; some days he'll praise them, others he'll fight them, the next he'll liberate them in writing, then minutes later, he'll shoo his own away into the wilderness. The moody melancholy of artists and writers truly lives on in this Skydancer. Nothing sticks with him for long except one recurring windy scribe that keeps blowing his papers everywhere. Why he puts up with this one, no one knows. Maybe it takes great notes.

Valued Possessions: Upon arriving in Wind, Serithal took with him a great deal of possessions, including a new book in which to keep his writings. This is a dragon who needs a fresh start more than anyone can say.

Habits: Serithal is a creature of habit to the point where identifying his base personality is an arduous task comparable to figuring the shape of a snowflake before it melts. Ever-changing, yet incredibly true to his vices, Serithal has countless habits. None stand out more than the others for long.

Breed/Color Changes: No previous changes. No future changes.
