Shortly after her hatching, Blep managed to tumble out of her nest and into a thicket of bushes. Rather than trying to crawl back home, she took her stumbly, wobbly feet and started wandering in the opposite direction. So small and so young, she wasn't able to make sounds of distress to try to alert her family to her whereabouts, and she ended up being led far, far away from her birthplace.

One freak windstorm later and Blep ended up in the Shifting Expanse, curled up shaking and hungry on the doorstep of a paranoid Lightning clan. The clan's head engineer took pity on the tiny noodle and brought her in, where he cleaned her up and gave her lots of bugs to eat. The clan's treasurer, being the only other Spiral in the lair at the time, taught Blep how to fly. It was a minor miracle that such a young thing managed to make it all the way from the Tangled Wood by herself-- by the time Blep got the urge to move on, the clan was sad to see her go.
