Although the unbearable heat of the lava pools is usually enough to fend off any attackers coming from the Southern Icefield, there are far less such to be found at the border between the Ashfall Waste and the Sea of a Thousand Currents.

One of the few water dragons of the clan, Phorcys thrives in water. Yet, as both a Coatl and a resident of the Flamecaller's territory, he has a strong resistance to heat; additionally, his ability to sense darkness in others is unusually finely tuned. These abilities combined cause him to spend most of his time in the scalding waters that separate the Ashfall Waste and Sea of a Thousand Currents, where regular water dragons would not tread, to then fend off any ill-willing trespassers with an ambush.

Additionally, he is responsible for ensuring safe passage between the two territories for any well-intentioned dragon that requires it, which not only extends to but is in fact mainly geared towards unprepared strangers. It is this that has led to the clan having garnered somewhat of a reputation amongst Water clans, and dragons traveling in the direction of the Ashfall Waste are often advised that should they ever encounter trouble, to search the depths for wings lined with fire, or listen for the distinctive call of a Liquid Fiendcat.
