Taken in by Vicca, Oort seems to provide valuable information to the spymaster. It is also information only the spymaster seems capable of deciphering. Whatever the stars hold and how they shift in the sky has been a subject of study for others in the clan, but Oort's single dedication to it is unique.

Prior to the war, she spent some time among the iilah, who were also star watchers. Whatever secrets she swapped with them are only known to Vicca. When the war between the Blood Brood and the iilah broke out, many assumed she would be a natural ally to the iilah. In truth, Oort spent most of the war in frantic disarray, trying to determine if the star's reflection in blood were new constellations.

Vicca was a part of Ciciano's small independent resistance, and took the star scout in when the conflict spread to all the dragons in the region. Oort gladly followed them even as they came under Lye's rule, happy that some sort of order was returning to the chaos.

Most of her work is done away from the clan, and she is rarely out on the field when they are on contract. When she is with Corrosive and not out on assignment, she spends much of her time with the archivists and researchers building on her work.
