Castilleja works alongside her mate as treasurer, but rather than caring for the currency like Hibiscus does, she sorts miscellaneous loot and scrolls neatly into little boxes: ordered by type, location, and colour. She enjoys her work, but often wanders off to bother Hibiscus when she's been sorting for a long time and inevitably gets bored. Hibiscus often pretends to be bothered by this, but they both know that he enjoys her visits. The smaller Imperial is sometimes seen nestled into her vast mate's arms, tails coiled at the tip.

Castilleja is a cheery dragon, one of the clan's less mature members, and when she's bored and Hibiscus refuses to accept her company, she's often seen causing mischief elsewhere. Although she's technically a shadow dragon, Castilleja holds no connection with darkness and instead prefers the light. However, her eyes are very sensitive because of her elemental affinity, so she has to wear goggles to deal with the brightness of the Radiant Cove. When questioned about her lack of loyalty to shadow, Castilleja simply shrugs and says that light and shadow are two sides of the same coin.
