Describing himself as a 'grumpy old man in waiting', Aurorae is a dragon whose sense of humor would be the first thing that others noticed about him, if he hadn't also been afflicted with a wasting disease. With the disease leaving him home-bound, Aurorae was forced to retired fully from his duties. This does not by any stretch of the imagination mean he's fully retired. Taking an advisory role, Aurorae often goes over issues his children face and offers a plan of action. Though he's indispensable behind the scenes, he refuses to contribute the family's success solely to himself. His grandchildren have brought new energy and fresh perspectives to the family, while his children, even if not all of them remain kept the family going. 
Outside his family he's fabulous friends with Mab and Rhoda, though how he keeps being friends with both of them is something of a mystery. It is common knowledge that those two have a very long and bitter feud though the exact reasons as to why have been lost in so many retellings. However, after his accident, the two occasionally put aside their differences to come visit him. Though whenever they are visiting, the lair is filled with the sound of their bickering. |

Bire's catty other half. Aurorae was always ready to settle in with a disgruntled dragon and do some good old fashion griping. He was charming in his own way but many had to learn not to take some of his comments personally. Despite this, he was considered the lair's problem solver. His gossiping and griping allowed dragons to blow off steam before anything evolved into conflict. He also had the uncanny ability to sense trouble before it starts, and move in to mitigate it. Of course, most of the lair's other occupants don't realize he was doing this, and those who knew didn't tend to let on. His activities were curbed when the clan fled their old lair. On the trip, he was tangled in a strangle plant that poisoned his scales and made them begin to melt. Despite the best efforts of the clans medics, they could not completely cure him. While they slowed it nearly to a halt he continues to shed scales almost as fast as he can grow them. The holes in his wings will never heal but with regular care, they will not grow any bigger. While his condition causes him constant pain and makes it hard to move, his activities haven't stopped. Now the dragons of the lair come to him, although occasionally when Tomato is around to carry him, he'll still make personal visits.
A doting parent before the Hunger, he resolved to not let the loss he felt to interrupt the care of his children. He turned his grief into love and does his best to keep the spirits of his family buoyed, though he knows they all worry about him terribly. He's proud to say that he has raised two wonderful and hard working children and never lets their hard work go unrecognized. He was devastated when his younger daughter, Fulmine, decided to leave the clan. With his limited mobility, he could only watch as his mate and his remaining child struggled to keep up with their duties. The addition of Faraday and Meniscus to the family was a great weight of Aurorae's shoulders. He's proud of this new generation and is just as doting a grandfather as he was a parent. |
