Biography
|
WAYSIGN is the last true outpost of the Crinoline. Heading inland, it's the last place to stock up on supplies for the trek into the Wasteland for weeks; heading Seaward, it's the last real piece of civilisation before the Rusting Shores gnaw away the Contagion. The outpost's founder, owner, and sole employee is Notch, a scrap hunter who takes that one story about making soup out of a nail as a model by which to live her entire life. She keeps Waysign stocked with the bare essentials -- water purification tablets are a popular item -- and a selection of things which might stretch the definition of necessities a bit far. One of her specialties is old, repurposed clothes made more Wasteland-friendly with the addition of chitin, spikes, patchwork leather, and enough pockets to carry an army in, provided the soldiers were very small. Notch is rough around the edges, and some folks find her way of looking at them the way a hungry dog looks at meat to be a bit unsettling. Still, she's a fair trader and a decent blackthumb, and you won't get anything better for miles yet. | xxxxxxxxxx |
IMPRESSIONS
She's got a voice rough and half-cauterised by cheap Wasteland distillations and thick with a preponderance of monosyllabic answers. Under the spiked leather and patchwork canvas something gleams: robotic replacements for parts lost to the ravages of Wasteland or time, or both. It's not polite to stare.

RELATIONSHIPS
DINT is another scrap hunter and part-time robotics hobbyist. He brings in some coin for the pair by selling his better finds to Aftersought, the scrap emporium up in Rachidian. When together, the two often function as separate halves of the same dragon, to an extent where speaking would seem superfluous -- but they do that anyway, often as loudly as possible.HEMWICK is Notch and Dint's firstborn. Notch can't read Hemwick's letters, so Dint has to read them out loud, and she dictates half of what he ought to say in the reply. Notch has an iridescent friendship bracelet made for her by Hemwick, which she keeps near her at all times -- either on her person or hung up on its special nail in her workspace while she's busy. |
