Fala was a tenacious one her whole life through. From the minute she hatched, she was loud-mouthed, rambunctious, and self-righteous. If someone had a qualm with her, she addressed it. She left no room for unwarranted dislike of her, save for hot-headed imperials. Her strange take on resolving personal problems only made the clan love her more, despite her unusual skeletal features. It was hard not to find humor in her bizarre attitude. While her and Bones shared common interests and a definite love for one another, they also acknowledged that their differences in personalities required them to give the other just a little bit of space. Fala's evenings were spent toying with alchemy in the solitude of their home with her newfound assistant, Gloam. Aoife would occasionally stop by to gossip about the imps, or neighboring clans, and to generally hang out, as friends usually do. She would never drop by empty handed or without some weird gadget, especially if there were hatchlings running around. Whenever Fala was required to run errands during the daylight hours, her Floracat would always be scampering close behind her. She would usually take these outings as opportunities to boast of her alchemist prowess, even though she was more often than not accidentally turning gold into lead. A wrinkled, torn piece of paper is set down by her alchemy pot. Scribbled on it is the following note:
Excerpt written for Shadebound There was something familiar about the Diamond Rooks Sanctuary, but he couldn't quite place it. There was a mix of all types of dragons in this clan with roles ranging from dark magic to gardening to cooking. He was taken to the guest lodging where Dax, an overly friendly guardian, greeted him, had him sign the guestbook, and then showed him to his quarters. Shade then took the dragon up on his offer to tour the settlement which turned out to be somewhat useful as they ran into the sanctuary's head alchemist - or so he thought she would be useful. "Hm, I might know of some spells," Fala hissed as she sized him up, "but quite frankly, I don't like your look." Dax took this awkward opportunity to vacate the area and leave the two alone. He wasn't one for any sort of confrontation. Shade was less than enthused by the entire ordeal, but tried his best to feign innocence, "My look? How can I change how I look?" "I won't help you," she waved at him in a disregarding fashion, "and I suspect none of the residents here will. The dragons here are peaceful and will not tolerate any plagueling bravado. Seek out our library if you wish to go through some of our tomes, though don't expect much in the way of spells over there either." And with that, she disappeared into her den without giving him so much as a chance to fight her for the knowledge. It was probably better that way anyway. He did sift through the library for a few days (to no avail), dabbled in random banter with various locals, attended an evening storyteller circle, and enjoyed quite a delicious array of foods. Fala, oddly, showed up on his last day to send him off. She had plucked a wilting indigo mimosa, its petals crisp and faded to a deep brown as it neared its end of life. She cupped it gently while handing it to him, an almost sad expression upon her face. "An old... acquaintance of mine is from Rotrock Rim," there was hesitation in her voice and a discomfort in the way she shifted about. "He used to tell me that the jungle reminded him of home. With as much life as is here, there is often much rot that follows." That is exactly what it was. All around him in the bountiful jungle, plants struggled to stay alive. He peered down at the withered flower curiously and then plucked off one of its petals, examining it closely before allowing it to fall to the ground. There was harmony among nature's territory, but there was an all too familiar chaos underneath: a constant struggle, a fight for survival. "Thank you," his voice was more quiet than he had anticipated, his focus lingering on the wilted bud. "Mm," she collected herself, then touched her chest while respectfully bowing her head, "Good luck with your journey, pearlcatcher. I hope your next adventure takes you to a clan more suited for what you desire." |
↬ EXTRA INFO ↫
Fala's floracat is often found leaving presents around the camp for various dragons, sometimes dead, sometimes alive. Evalia has complained numerous times as well, insisting that the pearlcatcher has been teaching the cat to poop directly outside of her abode. Fala admits to nothing, and only smiles in response. |
