Their mother left them in the common nesting grounds of the Windsinger's Tale. She abandoned them. The nest guards told them not to fret, their mother loved them dearly they said. Loved them dearly but didn't want them to get hurt. She was protecting them the nest guards promised. Protecting them from their father. Despite her dark colors Nameless is a dragon touched by Light. While for others that may be a good thing, it isn't for Unnamed. Her father and aunt are both Light and come from the deepest parts of the Hewn City where the sun never shines and strange birds call out to an empty city. They're always looking for something, always so empty, searching for some knowledge that will fill them and make them whole. Nameless searched far and wide for what she needed. What she was missing or lacked that made her mother leave her alone in the world. She never found it. Instead she became consumed by it, by this desire to know, to know how she had failed that her mother could not see or look at or know her. What crime had she committed that she would just be abandoned. She became a dark thing made of smoke, shadow, and nightmare, the Light eating at her until all that was left was a memory of a thing. She returned to the Slaughter Three where she’d been conceived, a ghost or a shade or a dragon half dead. Perhaps all of those, perhaps none of them and something else instead. All she knew was that her mother was there. But she was lost in the ship. The halls move and sway, the decks a maze, twisting and turning and no way to find the way out. Only deeper into the darkness of the Slaughter Three, of the nightmare ship where twisted dragons dwelled. She’s lost now, and afraid. She just wants her mother. If she could just find her mother all would be well. And so her Search continues.
