Lore:
Adira and Keahi were not a fated match, but he was persistent and she admired the strength of his character. He was not a trained fighter, but he possessed qualities she wanted for her children: tenacity and passion. He adored her in a way that she had never experienced, and he swayed her stubborn heart. When it came time for her to have children, Aidira insisted they be born in Plague territory to give them the strength of her element. Keahi would do anything for his mate, so he agreed. Unfortunately for the expectant couple, the element’s influence on some of the eggs was too strong and some came out… different.

The strong hatchlings are trained as fighters, and the weaker ones… Adira’s traditions dictated that those unfit for survival be killed and spared the pain of living. When their first clutch hatched, the wildclaw was horrified to see one of her beautiful children disfigured by the powerful element, barely able to breathe from the overgrown scales that covered her face. The young coatl disappeared from her sight the instant her deformity was recognized, and she was left with her brother in their nest. Adira tried to prevent her mate from seeing the horror that was one of their firstborn children, but Keahi insisted and eventually his persistence won out. She let him see, and instead of recoiling with horror the coatl she so adored brought the hatchling close to him and started grooming her and pulling at the scales that covered her face, trying to help his little one breathe easier. He saw a hard life ahead, but he could not look past the parts of that hatchling that reminded him of his mate, the dragon he loved so dearly. He pleaded with her to break her traditions, to find a clan where they could raise their children in safety.

Adira relented, to a point. She had a stubborn heart, steeped in her clan’s traditions, but Keahi’s fire brought a warmth that could melt her. They bundled up their newborns and they set off in the middle of the night, determined to find somewhere they could have their family in peace. What they found was a clan of mercenaries, which appealed to Adira’s value of strength. They took the couple in, but when it came to discussing the hatchlings there were some concessions made to Adira’s past. The wildclaw would not lay her eggs outside of plague lands, determined that the element would strengthen her offspring. However, the mutations the element sometimes caused made those children less valuable in her eyes, and while she would not kill them she insisted that they be marked as damaged goods. The clan’s blacksmith would not commission a brand for such a monstrous purpose, so by her mother’s own claws, the newborn was marked on her forehead as a sign of her lesser value.

Each clutch, Keahi holds his breath until each hatchling has emerged, and each time he tries to help the ones that are harmed by the magic in whatever ways he can. Some are lucky to be born strong, but some of them are not. Due to his love and determination, they all survive; thanks to their mother, they all learn to fight; and thanks to their clan, each one is given the chance to sell their services to whatever clan offers the most.
Personality:
There are not enough synonyms for "determined" to describe this stubborn female. Born with a deformity in her scales, she has no use of the senses on the right side of her face; indeed, she does not even know if those organs are there, not that it matters for the good they would do her. Marked as damaged from the time her father gave up on the clan's healers finding a cure, she grew up in a hard way. Her mother tried to raise her to be a fighter, despite her obvious handicap, and in many ways Adira did succeed - but not in the ways that mattered.

Tilallai is a terrifying fighter if she is drawn into combat, but she prefers to stay out of it and observe. She is constantly alert, always testing the air for information she might miss, and this very characteristic usually allows her to move away undetected before trouble can find her.

Physique:
Smaller than her brother, but larger than her mother, Tilallai has enough bulk to stand her ground if anyone tries picking a fight with the damaged female. Her scales are overgrown and tough in places, blocking out all evidence of the eye, ear, and nostril on the right side of her face. These same scales coat the side of her neck, and the abnormality that caused them seems to have also shriveled the small horns she inherited from her mother.

Despite the physical handicap of having only half of the "usual" sensory input, she was blessed to be born a coatl and therefore retain a sense of smell by way of her tongue. Tasting the air allows her warning of when others approach from her blind side. Due to the lack of awareness on her right side, she is not the strongest fighter, but anyone who thinks she will go down easily is in for a painful lesson. Her size allows her to throw her weight around and she already has the worst scar she can imagine - how could a few more possibly make her look any worse?

Lair Review By Tues

[zOOMS IN ON THE RED FLOWERFALL] yes hello you have my attention

Gosh, though, what an amazing Coatl. Her genes are nothing to shout about from the rooftops (that may just be me; I’m not usually fond of red on the color wheel since it looks more orangey to me), but her bio is absolutely stinking stellar. The art is awesome, and the detail in her bio is making the lore writer part of me want to hire an angel choir to sing about this gal for weeks on end. I love lore that includes information about the parents and their relationship with the hatchling (clearly Tilallai here didn’t have a fantastic bond with her mother), and the fact that this bio sheds light on why Tilallai acts the way she does and has the strengths she does is amazing. Stellar, stellar work, and a very excellent dragon. o3o
