Guard Captain
You must not fight too often with one enemy, or you will teach him all your art of war.
What seems like so long ago, Antigone was just a young hatchling, enjoying a simple life. Her family adopted her out to an Arcane clan - which he excitedly joined - and she spent all of her time smothering herself in her young attraction for a slightly older dragon. She was absolutely obsessed with this man, her life practically revolving around him despite the fact that he was mated to another. As Antigone aged, she learned to admire him from afar - she didn't want to ruin his relationship - and joined the guard for her clan. But, her crush and his mate wound up splitting. His mate had left for another clan in a different land.
Antigone was beside herself with sympathy and approached him, doing everything in her power to console him. She spent time and days - which turned into months - being there for him and his every whim. The time they spent together eventually brewed a romance, and they eventually became mates. The two of them birthed four beautiful children, two of whom provided them with beautiful grandchildren. Their lineage grew quickly and vast. But, just as quickly as that, Antigone's romance faded and her mate left her.
From then on, her days seemed to rush by in a whirlwind. Before she even had a chance to recollect herself, Antigone's children were leaving to join different clans and a couple even left to join the Arcanist. Her ex-mate eventually joined them and the Arcanist.
Antigone still had the comfort of her home, but she felt that something large was missing from her life. She spent much time alone, in her nest, wondering what she could be missing; but, no answers ever came to her.
Eventually, she grew tired of waiting around for life to come and find her, and she left her clan behind. Antigone left everything behind, taking not even the essentials with her, and she hunted for that something to fill the "void." Antigone used her Guard Training to hunt for food and keep herself alive as she wandered the wide-open world. But, for a long time, the dragon's search seemed fruitless and she often considered joining the Arcanist, by her childrens' sides. Perhaps, she thought, she might find comfort there.
Her mind had been changed, however, when Antigone ran into two young dragons in The Viridian Labrynth. Illyen and Iari were their names. The two had barely an idea of how to hunt and gather. They looked starved and tired. Antigone, who had mothered four little ones, took pity on the poor souls and helped them in any way she could - starting with feeding them and teaching them to hunt. For a few weeks, Antigone resisted asking where they came from and why they seemed so panicked. Antigone taught them everything she could about how to hunt, gather, and defend themselves. She chaperoned their adventure through the known world, keeping an eye on them and nurturing them.
Illyen had a tendancy to get into trouble, but nothing ever made her falter, and Iari was great at convincing her to think before she acted, though he seemed to have very one-sided feelings for the young girl. She saw all too much of herself in Iari's feelings and it made her often nostalgic. But, finally, Antigone couldn't handle the build up of secrets and she asked the two young ones about their past.
While Illyen kept everything to herself and refused to open up to Antigone, she allowed Iari to fill her in on everything from their escape from their old clan and how there were probably death sentences on their heads for fleeing. Feeling far too protective of the two, Antigone used her resources and connections to find all information she could on the two's old clan. To her pleasure, she eventually found out that the clan had been disbanded and the members scattered. Antigone wasted no time reporting the good news to Illyen, who made the immediate decision that it was time to return home.
Upon their return, of which Antigone made sure they made it back safely, Illyen, Iari, and Nekaia (who they'd also picked up along the way) all took over the lair of the disbanded clan and the four of them put down roots. Antigone spent days deciding whether to leave or stay, agonizing over the decision. But, she found herself quite drawn to Illyen and Iari, and decided that this... this could be home.
