Maui

Uh-oh, looks like this glorious sea creature has wandered a little too far from his lair (Kiaora #159770), and now he's off to see the world! Maui's Adventure so far:

Many moons ago, right before Maui's nest was due to hatch, his father (the King of the Underworld) got into a dispute with a local fisherman. Displeased by the lack of offerings made to the Godly figure, Maui's father fell into a fit of rage which caused sudden winds and heavy rains. The result of his anger lead to a small Dragons nest, which was thought to be safely nestled on a nearby cliff side, to be ripped away in the fierceness of his temper.

All the eggs but one were destroyed. Maui's egg was damaged just enough for his mother to weep over his premature birth. Presumed to have passed on to the next life, Maui's mother wrapped his body in her hair and threw him into the waves.

Magically, as if he was destined for the Sea, the cool sea water revitalized his tiny body. Maui was discovered by some kind sea creatures, who hid him in the kelp beds until the storm subsided, and the current sent him safely back to the shore. He became a beach dweller from that day on.

Many years later, on the 5th day of September and 15 years past the second millennia, Maui decided in secret that it was time to leave his home, and embark on a new adventure. Little did he know, his most loyal companion was quietly padding behind him...

Maui discovered his companion following behind him, and tried to convince it back home, but it was too late, really. They had already traveled quite a ways from their home. So the guardian agree to let his familiar accompany him on the journey. It would get rather lonely without him, anyway.
The two traveled for a ways, eventually ending up in Earthshaker's domain. It was a very nice place, and Maui decided to stay a while. He found a nice dragon clan that took him in. They shared many stories with him, and he shared stories with them, in return. He was quite a good storyteller. All the hatchlings would gather around him every time he began a story, and several of the adults, too. They would listen, staring intently, as Maui spun his tales.

He stayed for roughly a month in this lair, entertaining the dragons, and learning new things from them. The dragon he loved hearing stories from best was a female wildclaw, by the name of Celeste. She told many stories of the sky, a place Maui had never been. He had lived in the sea up until a month ago, and had merely walked here. He began questioning her all about the sky and the wind one night. She answered all his questions patiently, and finally said to him "If you want to know so much about the sky, then let us simply go to the sky! We will travel at daybreak tomorrow!" And that was that. Just as she said they would, they both began traveling at sunrise. His familiar curled safely on his back, Maui practiced flapping his wings. He had a rough start, but with Celeste's encouragement, he quickly got the hang of it. Soon, they were flying off to their next adventure. It wasn't the same as the ocean he was used to, but he did rather enjoy flying.
