Biography
It was the elder who disappeared first. It didn’t come as a shock to anyone; the dragon was old and frail, and despite protests from other clan members, she insisted on taking evening walks to collect plants for her garden. Most assumed that she had simply fallen, or gotten lost deep in the bramble. Search parties were sent out, but nothing was found.
But a warrior was next. A strong Guardian, covered in thick scales and battle scars. No one could believe that she had been bested in battle. The entire clan went out to search, but all they could find was the dented crown of her iron helm. It was buried shortly after, and the clan mourned.
Then, months later, Iceborn's son died. He left the world in his sleep, as quiet as he had been in life. No one could fathom the death of the little prince. He had been so healthy, so vibrant, just the day before. Iceborn was wrought with grief, and she sent the entire clan on a hunt to find the killer. Despite the loss being so sudden, no one truly suspected that it was murder. Still, they joined Iceborn in the search with a heavy heart.
They caught a wandering Dragon in the woods, digging a large pit by the stream. He was quickly apprehended and the area was searched. To their horror, a mass grave of Dragon skulls was discovered. They were unable to identify who they belonged to, but Iceborn was convinced. She called for the murderer to be killed for his crimes.
It was Braen who stopped them, her benevolent hand extended to the wandering Dragon.
“Fear not, my friends. This dragon means us no harm. He says that he found the bones while foraging for food, and I believe him. The Beastclans run rampant in these woods; it is not uncommon for them to bury their kills. Let us end this witch hunt, please. It is time for us to heal.”
The clan members were slowly persuaded, and one by one they went back to their normal lives. The stranger, Anwir, joined the clan, and shortly after became Braen’s mate. Peace seemed to be restored.
No one seemed to notice the bones Braen now carried on her wings, rattling in the wind...
