Rumors say Deazal was found as a lone hatchling by a clan in the Tangled Wood. His origins were unknown, though some believed he was born directly of shadow itself. He was taken in by this clan and raised as one of their own, but for unknown reasons, Deazal was said to have slain them all. The clan has faded from knowledge, and the name they gave him with them. The dragon known now as Deazal was born from the ashes of that unknown clan. He was dubbed “Kinslayer” and with his past destroyed, he took the name of Deazal and became a wanderer. In his travels he met, one by one, other dragons with pasts strange and ill begotten, and with them he forged a new clan. This clan is comprised primarily of outcasts from all over Sornieth. He became the primary progenitor of the Clan Misfortune.

Deazal is a creature of cunning and intelligence, though he is powerful and fast, he succeeds primarily on his ability to see many steps ahead of his foes. He is a dragon of few words and his true feelings and intentions are often secretive and mysterious. He will be whatever he needs to be whenever the situation calls for it, and he can be at once gentle and amiable, and suddenly vicious and cruel. His true nature is one known to few, if any. He seems to always operate with his own agenda and goals, doing most things to benefit himself and his clan, and seldom does he engage in any act for anything more or less than personal gain, though that gain is not always obvious, and can lead Deazal to do things those around him do not understand.

He is almost never seen without his familiar, a death seeker named Mortem, close by. The bird is only ever away from Deazal if it is scouting or acting as a messenger for him.
