Mama Chanter
"Not a leader, just a mama."

Chanter is an open, welcoming, arguably naive mother-figure to the House of the Age of Aquarius. Her curiosity is constantly getting her in trouble - especially when it comes to her studies. Flashes and bangs of explosions and acrid smoke pour from her lab at all hours of the day. Not every experiment is a failure, of course, and often times Chanter's unique brews are just what a dragon needs.

A very talkative, energetic Fae, she loves being around others and will strike up a conversation whenever she can. It's not always easy for her to understand what her conversational partner is feeling if they aren't a Fae, so she has taken it upon herself to teach non-Fae members of the House how to use their body language to communicate. This makes for some very animated exchanges that are often interpreted as displays of aggression by strangers.

Above all, Chanter is deeply protective of her family - and all who call themselves Water Bearers are mostly certainly family. She is hesitant to fight in general, but when the gloves come off she is a ruthless battlemage, using her own unique potions to enhance her natural abilities on the fly. As with all mothers, her wrath when threatened is directly equal to her love of her children.

The House of the Age of Aquarius was a very old and well-established family long before Chanter was in charge. They had their own traditions, beliefs, holidays, and hierarchy. Nobody saw any reason to expand their territory or change their ways. Everything was simply comfortable. Chanter grew up in this huge colony of Fae. She was never without friends and family, always had food, and lived a good life overall.

But the weight of so many Fae took its toll on the crystalline spires and cliffsides. The collapse came during a rough storm, and it took almost all of the Fae with it. Only Chanter, Calci, and a handful of distant family remained. Most of them disbanded, disheartened and mourning. Chanter couldn't bring herself to leave her home. So she spun her nest again, on the new, crumbled cliffside, and waited.

She waited for an opportunity - like Ona, for example. Though Chanter had helped many travellers and rogues before him, she took a special interest in him and he took a special interest in her. They wasted no time in reforming what she had lost.

Chanter made a few changes, however. Outsiders are much more accepted now, for example. She did away with the strict hierarchy of her old family in favor of a respected mother and father figure with no tyrannical sway over the family. She began to call everyone, outsiders and family alike, "Water Bearers" and encouraged species outside of the Fae to join them.
