Lineage

Biography

Minerva comes from a noble family, proud of the magical heritage that moves through their veins. They would often claim that there magic came from being related to one of the Eleven, though which one would change depending on which parent told their hatchlings at times.

Being from a wealthy family, and living in a large city that called the Starfall Isle's home, she went to a prestige's school called: The Order of the Rose. This was a school that catered to the wealthy nobility of Dragonkind and boasted that the Dragon's that attended their hollow halls of learning would maintain a high position within society. It was planned from Minerva's hatchling days that she would attend this school and further her families status in the city. She was bred and taught to be a proper young lady, and that she was to consider herself better than any Dragon that did not attend the same school.

As the young Dragon grew into adulthood, she had an understanding that she was better than other Dragon's given her rank in society, and attaining the highest marks during her schooling opened many doors for the Pearlcatcher, including becoming an advisor to the royal family of Starfall Isle.

Minerva, despite looking down on lower Dragons, took her duty very seriously. The title of Magical Advisor allowed her family to attain a higher rank in society, and her knowledge of the different nuances of magical applications and events that would effect the royal family and Dragonkind served useful, gaining her the respect, and ire, of her fellow advisors.

So when a magical anomaly occurs outside the city limits, Minerva is called in to give answer to the King and calm the minds of the people. Minerva had never seen anything like the tear that seemed to float in the air, as if someone had literally slashed a hole in the air to a swirling world of twilight colors.

Although she is not trained in combat, she had the best chance of understanding what had caused the 'Tear' and how to close it, as it was leaking out of control magics into their world and such an unchecked flow could cause problems for them in the future. She was given a small group of fellow mages and soldiers to make her way to the 'Tear' and study it and figure out a way to close, and if unable to close it how to contain it. Minerva had no doubt that she could easily find a solution for the problem, as she was confident in her skills and had never encountered a problem that she couldn't solve before hand. The journey to the Tear was nothing impressive, as she did not talk to anyone less to give them commands as they were beneath her in rank, thus not important enough to waste her time on as they couldn't possibly understand the delicate nature of the magic they were dealing with.

Though when she had the group had arrived there, the 'Tear' was much larger and the magic pouring through it more intense than Minerva had been anticipating. She had them set up a camp site a slight distance away, although she thought low of the Dragon's accompanying her, it didn't mean she wanted their deaths to be on her claws because it would be annoying to have to answer for that to the King, who would be holding her responsible for their lives. She journeyed down by herself, ignoring the warning of the guard assigned to her. There was no way to understand it without getting close enough to examine, but that was the last mistake Minerva would make on this trip. Once she stepped within a foot of the anomaly a blinding, white hot light engulfed the Pearlcatcher and she can only let out a cry of surprise to the point that she dropped her pearl to try and shield her face with her arms, and her entire world went dark.

When Minerva slowly opens her eyes she realizes she is laying on something soft. It takes a few moments for her brain and eyes to register where she is. It looked like a very large cave carved out of ice, and she was laying atop a pile of soft furs.

She was then greeted with the gentle voice of a male Wildclaw, telling her to rest as he goes and brings a Tundra draped in white.

He introduced himself as Hermes, the other was named Papillon. Minerva introduced herself, only to be greeted with a warm laugh and being told that another Dragon lived in their clan named Minerva as well, though she was a Nocturne.

Minerva honestly could care less about the name of another Dragon, demanding to know where she was and how she had gotten there. The Skydancer learned she was found among one of the giant ice floes that made up the Frigid Floes of the Southern Icefields. It took Minerva some time to put together that the 'Tear' must have pulled her through it and teleported her to another location, which fascinated her about the anomaly, but at the moment she would demand that they take her back to the Starfall Isle's so that she could deliver this news to the King, as she had a duty she was assigned to fulfill and she could not fail in her duty, mostly because she did not want to lose her ranking in society, she had grown quite accustomed to the power her title gave her.

This was meant with some confusion, as no one there knows the social structure of her home, which would be expected from lesser clans.

She was told she would be taken home once the storm outside had passed, and although that news annoyed her she was well aware she would freeze to death and die before they even got a few feet away from the den so she reluctantly concedes to Hermes suggestion and would stay there until the storm had passed.

During this time she meets the Nocturne that shared her name, and Minerva found the appearance fascinating between Styrax, 'Minnie', and Arcus as she had never seen half-breeds that resembled both parents, as hatchlings either took after one or the other parent.

Though the one that truly had her attention was the two Coatls, one named Chia and the other Pavlova. Both Dragons were engulfed with parasitic life forms that seemed to be feeding off them, yet it was not doing any, outwardly, harm.

Despite thinking she was better than them, she had to admit these were afflictions of a magical variety and it was her job to understand and break down such things to better protect her Kingdom. It was perhaps the first time Minerva had discovered something that had honestly peeked her curiosity in a way that nothing else in her studies had ever grabbed her attention. She found herself following the two Dragons around, asking them questions about how they became afflicted and how it affected them, if they heard voices or if they could do things that they couldn't do before. The questions were rolling off her tongue faster than she could really understand why she was becoming so excited and interested in this lesser Dragons.

It is suggested by Hermes she write to inform her King what she discovered and that she would return with information once she had broken down what she had found.

Minerva takes that idea, writing on parchment and sending it with a merchant, commanding him to take it to the Starfall Isle's in his travels. Once she discovers how these magical parasites work, it could be something they may use to better protect the Dragon's of the kingdom, and these lesser Dragon's make wonderful, unknowing guinea pigs.
