Ashwit initially took up with Regnarox and his company temporarily for the sake of survival in the unforgiving Wasteland. Originally a wanderer, he was accustomed to solidarity and caring only for himself, though among the group he carried his own weight without question. His plan was to travel with them as far as they'd take him and then depart on his own again. However he grew comfortable amidst the forming clan and eventually settled with them permanently.

Though he never speaks of where he came from or how it is he came to wander the Scarred Wasteland, suspicion has it that he originally came from a family with some kind of ties to royalty. It's entirely possible that his brilliant crimson coloring may have ostracized him from his family, since his heritage seems to hail from the white tundras of the Southern Icefield.

Those few who have thought it wise to ask him the validity of these rumors however have quickly learned their lesson, as Ashwit goes directly for their throats. If has has any family remaining, he never makes mention of them.
