Dulahan
Dulahan

Oracle | Apostate Council

Dulahan possesses a magic born from a mutation only seen within the borders of the Scarred Wasteland; blood magic. A diabolical art that harnesses the magic within the very life essence of a dragon, it is as deadly as it is terrifying. The possibilities of its uses are nearly limitless and often tailored to specific bloodlines and individuals, making it impossible to tell what a single practitioner is capable of.

Like many of the sickly oddities that call the Waste home, the existence of dragons who harbor blood magic is often brushed off as urban legend. It is easier to ignore such an unholy thing than acknowledge it for many outsiders. However within the Waste, views differ drastically. While some clans shun Dulhan's kind, others fear them to the point of abandoning entire territories at the mere rumor of one's presence, yet others simply do not care.

And, yet others still view them as deities, emissaries of the Plaguebringer itself. Such reverence is a double-edged sword, as Dulahan knows all too well.

Kept in gilded captivity a long as he can remember, Dulahan was forced to practice his magic at the whims of the clan controlling him. He was often used in barbaric rituals and made to push the limits of his abilities as well as his sanity. While the clan called him their emissary and paid worship to him, even the slightest sign of disobedience was met with severe punishment.

It was unsurprising that one day Dulahan simply lost all hope. Even the vaguest glimmer of belief left him. Each day would be the same as the last until the clan bred him for his children and wrung him dry of his life, only to repeat with his offspring, and theirs after that. Broken, vengeful and full of nothing but hatred, he pulled from the very core of his life and cast a blood curse outwards.

The result was devastation. Dulahan was left barely more than a husk, sure to breathe his last amidst the piles of corpses, pathetic and alone. So perhaps it was fate, or some twisted form of miracle, that brought a young Regnarox and his band of wanderers across the dying fae's path.

Dulahan would wake a week later amidst the odd gaggle of dragons. He soon learned though it was never said outright that they had nursed him back to health well aware of what he was and what he had done, and with no intention to do anything more than help another survivor of the unspeakable Wasteland. Regnarox gained Dulahan's eternal gratitude and loyalty that day.

Dulahan's blood magic makes him purely carnivorous despite his species, and he often sustains himself by drinking blood. Whether it's animal or dragon is of little consequence to him.
