Kumonryu
The Cartographer of Fogfloe.

In the tremendous cavern that she shares with Lior, Kumonryu’s territory is easily recognised, the stone floor stained from where she’s dragged her tail tuft, dripping with ink. Her body is similarly marked, impossible to tell which black splotches are part of her natural plumage and which are accidental imprints from her brushes and maps. More than one hatchling has gone into adolescence believing that Kumonryu is a white dragon with bad washing habits. In truth, Kumonryu is just strangely pigmented and clumsy.

Kumonryu’s path to becoming a cartographer began when a Wyrmling told her they could see the outline of the Southern Icefield on her wings. From there, she learned to wield quills midair with any of her four claws and her teeth, and has travelled far and wide to add to her collection of maps.

The maps themselves are a work of art, but are not always a useful buy for your run-of-the-mill adventurer. Rather than noting topography and distances, Kumonryu’s creations tend to have a touch of whimsy. For instance, one might show the best routes through the mountains to pass unseen, where Jackalopes are most prolific, or how to avoid geysers in the Ashfall Waste.
