She was only days old when she was abandoned by her parents; left to fend for herself. Weak and hungry, the young hatching wandered, crying for her parents, but they would not come. Surely she would have perished, had it not been for the kindness of an Water Flight dragon of the name Salacia. Salacia was the wise and noble High Priestess of a clan called the Wards of the Waves; a clan that devoted themselves to the Tidelord. Their temple was hidden deep beneath the waves of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, and it would become Aphrosa's new home, despite her original birth flight being the Light. It mattered little where she had come from, the Tidelord welcomed her with open arms as she took to the ocean like no other, and she grew up under the guidance of Salacia.

As Aphrosa grew, so did her strength, and her spirit. Much like her adoptive mother, she was fierce and stubborn, and above all else she was loyal. She loved her clan more than anything, and they loved her in return. With time she grew to be a highly respected member of the clan, many believing she would take over Salacia's position as High Priestess one day. She worked hard and tirelessly to learn the traditions of their clan and how to listen for the Tidelord's guidance.

Aphrosa had many friends among her clan, and eventually dragons started vying for her attention. She was as beautiful as she was strong, and many adored her. She had eyes for one dragon, he was charming beyond belief, confident to an almost annoying degree, but she found it endearing. Nereus and her became mates and had two children, a son and a daughter. For many years things were peaceful amongst the clan, any outside threat was swiftly dealt with by their warriors, Aphrosa among them. All was well till it wasn't. One day Salacia would not wake, no matter how loud they spoke or hard they poked at her, she slept on. The clan panicked, this was the first time in their history that their clan was without her guidance, and she was still alive somehow. In the clan's panic, Nereus stood before them, soothing their worries and suggesting the clan needed a new High Priestess if they were to continue to be strong in Salacia's absence. No one was surprised when he suggested Aphrosa to claim the position. No one disagreed either however, she was Salacia’s ward, and much like her predecessor, fiery, stubborn, and fiercely loyal. Aphrosa accepted the position, but swore she would do all in her power to solve what was wrong with Salacia.

The answer was one that broke her heart.

Neures came to her one night, full of glee and pride. At first she thought he was just happy that she had been accepted so strongly with her new rank, proud of her ability to lead the clan through hard times, but she soon learned that was not the case. Neures confessed to her the truth of Salacia’s slumber. He and their children had made a deal with a witch. To curse Salacia into an endless sleep, so that Aphrosa could take over as the new queen. Horrified that her mate, someone she loved, and trusted, could do such a cruel thing, she saw no other choice, and his death was swift.

Her children, Deimos and Harmonia had also taken part in this scheme, but Aphrosa could not bring herself to harm either of them. Neither her son or daughter would reveal who had placed the curse on Salacia. Trembling with rage and grief, she banished them before the clan, forbidding them from ever returning to their home.

The next few years were hard; Salacia slept on, Aphrosa had been betrayed by those she loved most and then suddenly the comforting presence of the Tidelord had simply vanished. He was gone; no matter how hard she preyed or begged, he was silent. In her grief Aphrosa devoted herself to the clan matters; but she was incredibly lonely. During this time one of her oldest friends was someone she grew to lean on. Tartarus was a soft spoken but intelligent Fae who helped Aphrosa through her darkest times; he listened and offered advice, but never pushed her to open up unless she wanted to. He was nothing like Neures; he was neither bold nor brash, but that was exactly what she needed. By his side she thought of her past love less; and she felt safe that the fae would never betray her. He was gentle and soft; and his cleverness was only ever used for good. It came as little surprise to her that she had slowly fallen for him; and she had sharp eyes, she knew that the fae felt the same way, but he never pursued or pushed, content to be her confidant if that was all she ever wanted. With time she felt ready enough to become romantically involved; her heart had healed enough, and she longed to be his partner in every way. When she declared her intentions, Tartarus was so flustered it made her laugh, but he was overjoyed, and the two became mates. Children were another scar that she'd wrestled with; but she was determined to have them with Tartarus; this time she was sure she could prevent the past mistakes, now with an mate that she knew without a doubt would never try to poison their minds with ambition and greed. Together she and Tartarus had several clutches; and she couldn't of been prouder to see the good in all of them.
