Vain, ambitious, and conniving, Kuro has never been the most reliable of allies. She sidled into the lair one day and promptly claimed one of the empty nests for her own, fluffing herself up and making herself at home despite the protests and questions of her involuntary hosts. Her silver tongue and gift for flattery won her a place in the lair, and her diplomatic shrewdness helps her keep it. Even clanmates who suspect her dealings with rival clans have found no evidence to condemn her.

Kuro delights in honing her skills, immersing herself in the politics of the clan and playing to whichever side best suits her. Wise as she is cunning, she is careful to keep choice allies by her side. She has even worked her way into Andazi's good graces and is often seen slipping off to the otherwise reclusive founder's lair to converse. These activities have earned her the ironic nickname of the Serpent's Ear, as Andazi's knowledge of clan activities has becoming alarmingly current since Kuro's arrival.

Whatever her shortcomings, Kuro is not without her redeeming qualities. She seems to take a smug pleasure in advising the younger, less subtle members, and uses her skills to serve the clan nearly as often as she uses them for her own ends. She is engaged in an ongoing, mostly friendly game of wits with Mire, and is to date the best medicine for Norse during his disoriented episodes.
