Biography
Some may have thought naming a hatchling 'Grimhorn' would give them a bit of a chip on their shoulder. In this case, it showed a great understanding between parents and child. Grimhorn's stark skin and horns were a mark of pride that he relished in.
Always a gruffer sort, Grimhorn leapt at the chance to train for battle when Kalarakesh and Skylash brought it up. Almost from the time he could fly, he learned to fight. He also showed a strong talent for it, and his entire clan started to take note.
A bit reckless, Grimhorn started to collect scars from a surprisingly young age as well. Kalarakesh, however, made sure that when the other clan dragons brought forward concern, she assured them it was Grimhorn's choice, and he never took excessive risks.
One day, after he was of age, Grimhorn was out hunting for the clan. He soon realized another dragon was honing in on the same beast, and he shifted into countering tactics. Immediately, he was enthralled by the challenge. Whoever this dragon was, it moved with a deadly grace and struck with the type of power he longed to master himself.
This was how he met Sorayami. When they ultimately clashed, the prey long forgotten, they fought brutally for hours. Even in the throws of battle, he could tell she felt as he did. It was a thrilling battle, a wonderful challenge. Blow for blow, strike for strike, scar for scar. He had never given his all to a fight with such satisfaction before, and never learned so much, so quickly from another.
Exhausted, bleeding, and exhilarated, the two were bound together forever more. It took little time for them to declare to their respective clans that they wished to bond officially.
Grimhorn was shocked to learn that Sorayami was self-taught. She had discovered by instinct what he had struggled and suffered to master for years, and she was too clearly talented, powerful, beautiful, and graceful for him to become jealous. In truth, it only made her more appealing.
He was privately shocked when Sorayami voluntarily left her clan to join his own for the time of their bond. It had worried him, and he'd not been sure how to approach the issue. He respected her too much to ask her to leave her birth-clan, but had obligations to represent his own in the coliseum. She ended the issue for him with her selfless manner and utter confidence, as he saw it. As always, it enthralled him further.
His wondrous reports of Sorayami's skill and power had the simultaneous effect on his own clan of making them pity him for swooning so much, and growing excited to meet this heroic dragoness, praised so highly by their greatest warrior.
Grimhorn was glad Sorayami was welcomed so sincerely. Had she not been, he likely would have left his own clan out of outrage.
Alongside their clan-sister, Shadowflash, Grimhorn and Sorayami became the honored representatives of Riken's clan in the coliseum. Now also a clan-father, Grimhorn is cemented as a highly respected and honored member of Riken's clan. Ever ready for battle, devoted to his family, the ever-gruff dragon is known as the best kind of ally. He never backs down from supporting those he loves.
