Biography
Shahar is a gruff, battle-hardened dragon, with a hide as thick as his skull. While the scars of time and battle have dampened his ability to fight, Shahar’s legendary temper and sword-sharp mind for tactics have remained frightfully untouched. While impatient and known to fly off the handle when dealing with incompetent bureaucrats, Shahar’s attitude to those under his command and the soldiers he trains is one of stern endearment and fatherly patience. While old wounds prevent Shahar from leading the charge into battle directly, Shahar can still be found on the frontlines of any battle; encouraging his troops, giving orders, and striking fear into the enemy with his daunting and imposing figure.
Shahar’s role in the clan is an important one. As mate to the clan’s leader Veadren, Shahar is the second in command to the clan as well the clan’s battle master. Shahar’s duties include enforcing and carrying out his mate’s orders, as well overseeing the barracks and the training of the soldiers, planning battle strategies, and ensuring the success of joint operations between the clan and it’s allies.
Shahar a nature dragon by birth once belonged to a clan that lived in the Shrieking Wilds. Loyal until death Shahar did not leave his birthplace to found his own clan, instead choosing to stay with his clan and serve as a solider. One day on patrol Shahar discovered a young and frail looking dragoness named Veadren in his clans territory. After hearing of Veadren’s plight as a wandering dragon Shahar decided against bringing Veadren to his clan for trial and possible execution for theft. Instead Shahar challenged Veadren to a fight, If Veadren won she would be allowed to hunt from Shahar’s clans territory for three days before leaving the territory for good, if Shahar won Veadren would have to leave the territory immediately. Shahar thinking the fight already won in his favor, was taking back at the ferocity in witch the young gaunt dragoness fought. Though outmatched in size and strength, Veadren fought like the goddess of rage incarnate and Shahar was ensnared by her courage. As the battle raged on and the hours passed Shahar’s amazement toward Veadren turned to infatuation. The solider in Shahar knew his duty and knew that great soldiers do not let their emotions get in the way, but the soldier in him also knew a great leader when he saw one. So with his heart and inner solider in agreement Shahar ended the fight and surrendered himself to Veadren in more ways than one to vowing to follow Veadren to the ends of the earth. Whether Shahar would follow Veadren as a solider or as a mate however was up to Veadren to decide.
