Calliope - Dream Walker

Calliope can see it all. Well, perhaps not all of it (whatever it may be), but a fair lot of it, and it is presented to her in dreams. At night, she wanders through a warped Sornieth that is fraught with illusion and baffling imagery, like the ocean and sky replacing one another, or endless fields of flowers springing from the Wyrmwound. More important than this curious, altered landscape, however, is the way she can enter the dreams of other dragons. Dream-Sornieth is fraught with sleeping dragons, found in the most peculiar of places, and if Calliope so much as touches them, their dreams become hers.

Unfortunately, so do their nightmares. It's easy to get caught up in a dream brimming with joy, but it's even easier to be trapped in the night visions that teem with the Shade, writhing and dark, reaching out. More than once, Calliope has witnessed violent and horrific things happen to dragons she does not know, only to wake in a frenzy, feathers on end. What this ability means for her and what these nightmares mean for the dragons she stumbles upon, she does not know. However, in spite of the abject terror that grips her in the heads of sleeping dragons, she is determined to discover more. Why do they see such gruesome things? Why are certain dragons frequent victims?

And most of all, why is the Shade creeping at the edges of each and every night terror?
