Biography

kShww36.jpg
Yang was a happy, adventurous, social little dragon. He had boundless energy and seemed to have this…aura surrounding him. He could walk into a room and brighten it up both physical and emotionally without even saying a word. Overall, he was just a jolly little thing that everyone enjoyed being around.

The same couldn’t be said for his sister though. Yin was always silent, never interacted with other dragons besides her brother, and had a bit of a temper at times if you crossed her. She was the exact opposite of her brother.

They were like light and dark; they had many differences but one couldn’t live without the other. And the two were content with this. The siblings cared about one another very much, and would be by each other’s side no matter what. They thought things would never change; but they were wrong. Oh so wrong.

It was a sunny morning and Yang was eager to go out and see where the day took him. The same couldn’t be said for his sister though, but that was to be expected. After pestering and poking Yin for a little over fifteen minutes, she grumpily agreed to go with him to explore.
The lighter colored Skydancer was overjoyed by this fact, his sister usually never ever got up early in the morning to go with him on his misadventures. But, today was special apparently. He gave her a quick hug and an excited ‘thank you!’ before bolting out of the lair. Today was going to be a good day.

The two wandered their own clan’s territory for a while, which was nothing new to them. A stone here, a tendril there, some sort of odd Plague flight creature scuttling over yonder… just normal everyday things they always saw. Yang was about to suggest going to a different area when he heard a yelp from behind him.

Yang whipped around and watched in shock and horror as his sister disappeared right before his eyes with a startled cry.

“Yin!” he exclaimed before leaping in after her without bothering to check exactly what he was getting himself into. In all honesty, it was a relatively short fall that didn’t cause any injuries- but the wind was still knocked from his lungs when he crashed into his sister as he landed.

“Yang, you moron! Get off of me!” Yin exclaimed, clearly annoyed at her brother’s weight on top of her. Yang wasn’t listening though, he was far too focused on what was in front of them to pay attention to his sister’s annoyed complaints.

It was a huge underground waterfall that rushed into a lake right beneath it. Various rocks and ledges jutted out from the side walls and on the wall behind the rushing water, creating unique paths for the water to run down. The large area was filled with natural sunlight that was able to slip through the breaks and cracks in the ceiling, creating various hues of green and blue to dance across the water. And best of all, in Yang’s opinion anyway, was that there were other dragons here! Hatchlings around their age were diving off of the top of the waterfall and into the greenie white-foamed lake below while their parents lounged on the side ledges.

In Yang’s eyes, this was the perfect way to spend the day. And with his sister by his side, he knew nothing could go wrong.

“C’mon Sis!” he exclaimed happily, gently tugging on her paw. Yin’s face contorted into a scowl as she yanked her paw away.

“Are you crazy?! I am not going in there and interacting with those loud, annoying, obnoxious brats! You can go splash around like a ninny if you want, but I’m staying here.” She snapped before plopping down on the stone floor.

Yang frowned at her; she didn’t want to play in the water? Why? He watched as the darker Skydancer’s expression softened as she looked at him.

“You can go, just be careful. I might go in a little later, okay?” she spoke to him in a gentle tone this time, and Yang’s face instantly brightened.

“Sure!” And with that simple sentence, the Skydancer took off towards the water.

A few hours later when the cave became dark due to the sun’s movement, the dragon mother’s and father’s began to call their hatchlings back to shore before leaving through a tunnel.

A few hours later when the cave became dark due to the sun’s movement, the dragon mother’s and father’s began to call their hatchlings back to shore before leaving through a tunnel.

Yang couldn’t understand why all of them were leaving almost at the same time, so what if it was dark in there? It was still daylight outside; more fun could still be had!

The small dragon was currently sitting at the top of the waterfall, watching as his sister slowly got out of the lake below. There were also three other hatchlings behind him whispering to each other about… something or another. Yang could only make out the words ‘monster’, ‘fall’, and ‘push’ before they would giggle.

But other than that, there were no other dragons; which was still odd to him, but whatever.
The light colored Skydancer gave his beloved sister a wide grin and waved to her when she looked up at him. In return she gave him a small genuine smile, something that only he was allowed to lay eyes on. But her smile quickly vanished and was replaced with horror. Yin opened her jaws to shout something, but Yang never got to hear it before he was given a rough shove that sent him over the falls.

Water assaulted his hearing and drowned everything else out. He flailed as he fell, trying desperately to righten himself so that he could land properly. But those thoughts were thrown out of the window as his skull collided painfully with one of the jutting rocks of the falls. Yang screamed out in agony as his bones rattled with pain upon contact with the object. He could’ve sworn he heard his skull crack inside of his head, but he didn’t care at the moment. He just wanted the pain to go away.

The skydancer’s body rolled off of the rock and dropped into the cool lake below. His red eyes fluttered open for a mere second, only to be met with the sight of rows and rows of razor sharp teeth coming right for him! Yang opened his mouth to scream, but all that did was make him inhale water into his lungs. He coughed, further letting more water into his lungs as the beast continued to close in on him. His head pounded as red wisps began to dance in front of his vision.

He lost consciousness when the thing was inches from his face.

When Yang woke up, he was back in the clan lair with a sleeping sister by his side. His head was pounding, his lungs hurt, he had scrapes all over his body, and he was afraid. He didn’t know why, but it was like all of the happiness he once possessed was sucked out of him.

Yang was never the same after that. He became slightly temperamental, isolated himself from other dragons, didn't speak, didn’t smile and was constantly afraid.

His sister had gone through a dramatic change as well. She smiled more often, always tried her best to make dragons happy, and suddenly grew an adventurous spirit.

But even with their drastic changes, their bond never changed. And both of them were fine with that.
