O R I G I N S
Tragically abandoned at a young age, Splendid was forced to fight for her life before she could properly talk. Or, at least that's what she'll tell you if you ask. It's not far from the truth, merely exaggerated and intended to pull on the heartstrings of her audience.

Born to a small, nomadic Clan, the infant Skydancer was predicted to lead an average life. Then, when Splendid was less "infant" and more "toddler", the Clan made the grievous error of venturing through the Hewn City. The ravaged settlement is a dangerous place for even dragons native to the Sunbeam Ruins; for unwary trespassers, it's lethal. When the dragons were attacked by the shade-touched occupants of the extirpated metropolis, Splendid became another casualty of the Hewn City.

Death, the Clan assumed, had befallen the youngling, and so no dragon returned for her. But the Hewn City has more than one secret, and while the burg's heinous denizens chased away her Clan, a different sort of inhabitant came to her rescue.

Splendid would come to know her rescuer - a Skydancer called Diesel - first as a friend, and then as her soulmate. He introduced her to a veritable mob of young dragons, orphans all, who lived and thrived in the Hewn City. Their miniature size made it effortless for them to skulk through the detritus while simultaneously avoiding their shade-touched foes. The eldest of this unlikely body was considered the leader until such a time that they breached adolescence and were henceforth barred from the group.
