Wind Battle Chants Section
(translated from ancient Windy Languages)
Ancient Chant - "Answer!"
Hail our brothers and sisters Hail our fathers and mothers We fly with the Wind As the Singer Commands, we Answer!
Ancient Chant - "Dragon Warror!"
Dragon Warrior stands tall and so strong, he'll not back down from challenge or wrong. By honor he lives Wind Flight! he cries by Windsinger's will he leaps and flies!
Ancient Chant - "Our Glory!"
Hear the sound of swords fulfil the night Feel the winds of death on your scales See the arrows fly, flaming in the sky Hear the screams of the enemy, as they die We won this battle with might and fearless hearts We came and we fulfilled our prophecy So now we shall march back towards our kingdom With heads up high and glimmering eyes we returned with our glory |

Origins:
There are no records from the time of the first Windchanters, but Seers have looked back through the millenia and seen the origins of this subspecies. Soon after the World Pillar shattered and the Deities were released from their bonds of unity, the Windsinger created his first children in his image. He showed them everything he saw beautiful in the world. Some tried to mimic these things, and that is how some subspecies of Wind Dragons originated. The Windchanters imitated birds, quite well, in the Windsinger's opinion. He gifted them, and their descendants, voices like a bird's warble or the wind's symphony.
Abilities
The Windsinger's gift was more than just a pretty voice. It has been found that, however a Windchanter was raised, they always have a wisp of power that grows when they sing certain songs. Whenever a Windchanter is chosen to sing one of the Ancient songs (songs dating from the first and sometimes second centuries after the Pillar shattered), their voice, paired with the generations-old and significantly powerful melodies of those special songs, create unique enchantments and bindings. The effect grows significantly when a choir of Windchanters sing ancient hymns in harmony. Quite often, neighboring Windchanters are asked to join together or come lead and sing the ceremonial songs for a clan ritual. It is well known that the voice of a Windchanter can invoke the blessing of the Windsinger.
Some research scrolls show that Windchanters have always been some of the best teachers of music, and no ordinary dragon has ever surpassed their musical skill. This has not been proven, although many renowned performers and minstrels throughout history have claimed Windchanter blood.
Registration and further information on the Windchanters Subspecies can be found here.

Vindr breathed deeply, planted his hind legs firmly and raised his upper body to face his foe. Bringing energy up from the ground and releasing it through his front claws, a substantial sparkly breeze burst from him and engulfed the enemy! The beast went down with a loud cry, and the battle was over. They’d won quickly this time! He swiftly faced his fallen Trainee, who had just taken a substantial blow to her wing, and chanted the ancient healing spell. The dragon cried out in joy, and all could see the green glow that swirled around the now healed radius bone. The Coli battle was over, the team was healed and renewed with Windsinger’s blessing. He gave the Trainee a word of praise. Vindr saw his lair leaders waiting for him with anxious looks on their faces as the team exited the Golem Workshop venue. So he handed off the training schedule he’d created to his team, and hurried over to Lyra and the Lair’s second in command, the intimidating Lafortier. He bowed before them. “Vindr, there’s a battle brewing!” said a worried Lyra. “I shall commune with Windsinger and receive our final orders for our Kites. Have no fear, my lady, my lord.” He bowed his head again in respect. So much was on Lyra’s shoulders, he hoped all his work preparing their Kites would set them at ease. Their Kites were the best in Sorneith! “I expect no less from those you have trained, Master Vi--” Lyra began. A young spiral quickly raced up, yelling, “Master! Master! Message from Wind Flight Council, and a whole gale of new Kites have come, but there’s no room for them! What do we do?!” Vindr assured his leaders he would inform them shortly of what was happening. He was dismissed to see to his duties, then he turned to the excited spiral that waved a clipboard around. “Calm yourself, and give me the number of newcomers. For now, get them fed and welcomed. It seems there is a battle brewing. Let’s start with the message from the Council, shall we?” The spiral eagerly handed him the clipboard, with the message on top.
Ambassador Vindr,
There has been a skirmish in Windstar Bay that seems to be building into quite a gust. We are sure a call for Kites will come through soon, as well as needs for basic supplies. The HQ for whatever Kites are called for will be Siltaria’s Lair on the bay. More information should be coming from Windsinger soon. Wind Flight Council “I need to commune with Lord Windsinger, immediately. I will know more after that, but it is certainly going to get gusty. First, catch Lyra and show her the Council message, let her know i am on it. Then deliver these orders.” Vindr grabbed the pen from the clipboard and carefully wrote down his instructions. Orientation for the new Kites would begin immediately, and food and supplies needed to be packaged and ready to go as soon as possible. His assistant raced off to deliver them. Vindr went back to his office, and relaxed into a meditative state. He sent his inner call out to his deity, The Windsinger, and waited patiently for a reply. :Granted and Yes.: said a firm yet soothing voice in his mind. “My Lord Windsinger, what has been granted?” :The lair expansion you will request. Already done.: Vindr was always in awe of The Windsinger’s powers, and it never failed to astound him how Windsinger always knew before Vindr asked. “Thank you, My Deity. And the battle to come?” :Yes, send your Kites. It’s going to be more like a Beach Party, but sure, Battle. Bring as much sand as you can. We will need a bigger beach. That’s all. I know you have everything else covered. Let your lair know they’re doing well, breezes will be good all the way to the Bay.: “I will, My Deity. Thank you for the good breezes, our Kites and supplies will arrive and be ready for whatever this battle brings.” There was a twirl of air around him, and Vindr knew his Deity had moved on. He wrote out a message to the Council, informing them the lair had received the call for Kites and exactly how many Kites would be arriving by Noon. He went outside and handed it to the first Messenger he found, right outside his door. The Messengers knew they’d be needed. He gave orders for the sand to be gathered quickly, and others in the Lair scattered to see it done. He met with Lyra, and they coordinated with the kitchens to make sure enough food was sent with them, as well. Later that morning, he looked around and discovered everyone was prepared, all was in order, following all the plans he had in place for such times. Theirs was the most organized Lair in Wind Flight! His smile was satisfied and proud, and he was suddenly a bit sheepish, thinking he had once been an awed and energetic Hatchling, watching the Kites leave for battle, and dreaming he would fight by Windsinger’s side someday. He had discovered his destiny was so much more than that, but the sight of the Kites now gathered and ready to leap still made him as giddy as he’d been as a hatchling. “To the skies!” Lyra cried out, and everyone rose into the sky and formed up, heading off to battle. Below, Vindr could see the hatchlings, jumping and cheering, and he cheered right back as he flew in a wild loop, just for them. The others in formation raised their eyebrows and stared. He got back into place as the faint sound of Windsinger’s laughter could be heard in his mind. |
