Damara breathes in deeply and tilts her head in confusion.
“You smell of Nature. It’s not Nature domain. Are you lost?”
Lothie jumps, startled – Damara is so used to approach every unfamiliar smell stealthily that she often scares the newcomers when she deigns to visit the lair to dump her latest booty in the hoard.
“Um, no, I'm new but I'm planning to stay for a while…” she begins hesitantly, but Damara already loses interest and wanders away.
“I'll remember you, don’t worry.”
Lothie opens her mouth but the Tundra is already too far and it would be weird to run after her and actually introduce yourself… so she just shrugs helplessly.
Something suddenly crashes nearby, making her jump.
“HEDER!!!” bellows someone.
“THAT’S NOT ME I SWEAR I WASN’T EVEN CLOSE – well, I’m definitely close now, but I just wanted to see what happened, and oooh, something definitely happened, Saar, it’s kinda messy and maybe we should…”
“BONE, YOU LITTLE BLOT OF USELESS RESIDUE!!! WHY THE SHADE DID YOU PUT THE SLIME IN THE CAULDRON, I TOLD YOU IT WOULD MAKE THE CONCOCTION VOLATILE!”
“Aww, old man, don’t stand in the way of the scientific exploration! True, it’s unstable, but I swear it’s just the matter of proportions, I’ll definitely hit the right combo next time…”
“THERE WILL BE NO NEXT TIME, BONE! I SWEAR I’LL TRANSMUTE YOUR EARS OFF NEXT TIME YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT, IT’S NOT LIKE YOU’RE LISTENING TO ANYONE ANYWAY!”
“Now that’s just mean, Brycey!..”
Someone behind her back coughs awkwardly.
“Guess it’s not a good time to come back, huh? Hello, by the way. Are you new? Don’t remember seeing you around!”
Lothie turns to the nice-sounding newcomer, smiling…
A fat, huge spider drops on the ground from the Wildclaw’s head. Several more hurriedly run down his neck to hide under the tattered rags, and he scratches at his shoulder absentmindedly, smiling politely and obviously awaiting the introductions.
The rags shudder ominously.
Lothie inhales – and screams right into Wildclaw’s face, drowning the sounds of Bryce and Bone arguing over the ruined cauldron.
