Biography

Velox
The red dragon was fascinating.

Day after day he returned to the same lair that obviously wasn't his, somehow creeping past all the dragons, and into the closely guarded vault. He always emerged in a different location, and with a piece of shadowscale armor slung across his back.

He was never noticed. The dragons of the lair began to get agitated after the third day. Someone had noticed the armor was missing. They posted more sentries on the vault.
And he still got in.
And he still got out.

He made it look easy, and she was hungry.

The little brown dragon crept down the thorn covered hillside and to the hoard of food stacked on the ground. The watermelons looked delicious. She quickly rolled one to a sheltered area and munched on it while taking in the whirling activity of the lair up close.

A large guardian stomped past her hiding place, clearly agitated. Maybe it was her armor that went missing? The little brown dragon peered after her, and noticed the shiny anklet wrapped around the guardian's leg.

She wanted it.

She needed it.

The red dragon does it. How hard could it be?

Swallowing the last of her watermelon, she crept out of her hiding place and behind the much larger dragon.

Gently... Gently... YES! She extracted the anklet from the guardian's leg and looked up... directly into a large, golden, and very angry eye.

She bolted.

She rounded the corner at full speed and barreled straight into the red dragon. The fascinating red dragon. Oh no.

"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry." She dove behind him and slipped into the darkness just as the very large and very angry guardian crashed around the corner.

"WHERE IS THAT LITTLE THIE... What on earth are YOU doing?!?!?"

She didn't stop.

She huddled down in a dark corner, clutching the anklet tightly while listening to the furious roaring of the angry dragon.

"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry"

She never meant to get him caught.

She slunk out of the agitated lair hours later, and made her way off into the darkness. After a while, she heard cheerful humming and curiously approached the source of the sound.

Creeping in carefully, she peeked out into an opening and was shocked to see the red dragon from earlier happily polishing his spoils from the lair, the set of armor laid out in front of him.

"Oh come on out of there, you aren't fooling anyone." He called. Wait... was he talking to her??? She nervously crept out from the briers, trying to take stock of all escape routes from the clearing.

"You forgot the basics of a simple lift, lovely. Distracted dragon, consistent pressure." He grinned at her cheekily, "Now you were providing an excellent distraction for me until you ran my direction."

What?? She glared, "You were using me?"

"Well when it's convenient..." He laughed, "What's your name?"

Name? No. Not now. Never, "Yours first."

"Vulpes."

She hesitated for a moment, whirling through different plausible names, "Velox."

"Oh, really? Well you don't have to tell me your real name..."

How did he know? She huffed in exasperation, and he laughed again, "So how about we move on to you not getting caught next time?"

"Wait... You'll teach me?"

"And why not? We could always use a few more light talons around the lair." He winked at her before hefting the armor pieces and walking away, "Well come on, then!"

She hurried after him, curiosity overwhelming her, "What's the armor for?"

"Oh... a friend of mine has been after it for ages so I...

She never noticed her anklet was missing.
