Biography

SENTRY
Flamecaller Effigy
1017.png
5711.png3394.png

Raised from jasper and infused crystal, this immense, ancient golem stands guard at the entry to the lair. This pseudo-Guardian is controlled with an artificial Charge, driven to protect the Clan. The magic that animates them is as ancient as the Great Furnace and takes exceptional knowledge and skill to maintain. While not alive, it can reproduce itself. One simply needs to feed it a sufficient amount of gems, which it will pressure cook within its super-heated belly and regurgitate as a small dragonling-like replica. This replica must be implanted with a Charge by someone who understands this dying craft, or any number of terrible things can happen.. from the disintegration of the unit to spontaneous mutation and violent rampages. The small sentry may be fed more gems to grow it to proper size.
Crystalline constructs of gem and heat forged in Flamecaller's colors for Her glory.

An old story tells of the days first coatl sculptor, a tale that dates back to the first generation of the species. So enamored was she with her kind's then-inexperienced Mother that she spent her life carving sculptures in the Goddess's likeness, spreading the word of her greatness. She toiled for many years on an effigy of immense size, hoping she may win the love of her Goddess. She presented it to Flamecaller herself, and the deity looked upon the glittering visage in her image with such admiration that she overlooked its creator and fell in love with it instead. She lavished much affection upon its every facet, for who was a more lovely dragon than she? With so much beauty to distract her, she neglected to ever thank the hands that made it and more- the then young children of Flame were left without guidance in favor of her fawning over the effigy.

Dejected and heart broken, the sculptor stole back the effigy, making off with it through the molten scar. Flamecaller pined so for the return of the effigy, going so far as to waste the lives of many of her most devoted subjects in hopes to find it, sending them in to territory too dangerous even for children of Fire. Finally it was found and returned to her at the Great Furnace, but alas! It had been re-hewn in the image of Tidelord's children! No longer could she call this beauty her own! Flamecaller's temper reeled. She saw the sculptor hunted and brought to the Great Furnace to answer for her crime. The artisan was brought before the fury of her creator in chains, and still she mustered the courage to look her in the eye. When demanded to give an explanation, she answered coolly "I was a fool to sacrifice so much for a mother who loves herself more than her children."

Flamecaller was taken aback, the weight of her folly coming down on her all at once. She had acted so selfishly, for something as simple as the luxury of being vain. She released her prisoner and returned to her the effigy, bestowing the grand creation with life, so that it may protect its creator. She also shared with the sculptor the ways of breathing life in to golems, thanking her for the lesson hard taught and learned, "and may you be a better mother than I have been." This tale is most often shared by parents to their young firelings, as a lesson on the love Flamecaller holds for them, and on the poison of putting pride first. If it is a true story or not is highly debated; the deity herself is not a fan, but she does not demand it stop being told.
