Biography
Chinadoll
Shopkeeper |Hoarder Collector
Owner of China's Antique Imporium
Shopkeeper |
Owner of China's Antique Imporium
|
Though China never lets a smile give him away,
offering him the right item will cause a certain spark to appear behind his glasses and one will find that the haggling process goes by more quickly because he is inclined to buy the item no matter the cost. Frequent patrons will advise new customers that the best time to buy from China is when his friend Aria is present. Though the general public isn't entirely sure why she seems to be able to get China to lower his prices, everyone agrees that she usually does.
China is a clear example of the hoarding habit
some dragons have and the truth of his high prices lies in the fact that he has an extremely hard time letting items go. In fact, many of the items lining the Imporium's shelves are carefully crafted forgeries, while the real treasures are locked in the basement. Aria, who collects things for China on her journeys, knows the difference between the real items and China's forgeries. If he is ripping someone off by too great a margin, she'll threaten to tell them the truth about their desired item's authenticity.
China has attempted to justify his behavior by
saying that the majority of dragonkind don't know what they're buying anyway and don't deserve to be in possession of real valuables. Other times, when he is feeling kinder, he might instead say that surely it is better to sell many forgeries and make many dragons happy, rather than to sell one or two of the genuine article and only please a few.

"Caveat"
I'll give you That it's a skill You've honed into an art To pass such Brasswork baubles As forged gold rarities I noticed Today That the metal rings You labeled as 'Authentic Tidelord Earrings' Were gone from their shelf I hope they didn't think Those aluminum hoops Would help curry favor With a god Oh, a collector, you say Well I'm so glad you rolled out the good stuff Just for them Did they take the chrome-plated 'Beard Comb of Earthshaker' As well? Don't pretend You have no idea What I'm talking about Look I brought you something And I really think You'll like it And if you don't I hope you'll sell The real deal Instead of a cunning fake That fills another's heart With gossamer dreams And thoughts of all the stories This artful copy might contain Commissioned by Aria |
