Biography

Zinc

An enigma of sorts. It's unknown if he's a true ghost, or just an echo of an old memory, but multiple members of the clan have reported seeing him. Seeing him has become synonymous with good luck, since those who find him have things mysteriously go their way, as if he's somehow capable of affecting the corporal world and helping those who witness him.

While much of his past remains shrouded in mystery, a few of his visits have coincided with the discovery of a journal, each of which presumably belonged to him. These journals appear to date back to the time of the original inhabitants of the fortress, long before Clan ______ was founded.

Those journals do not mention his birth clan or his youth, but one does tell of his arrival to the fortress, recruited as a member of a group determined to find a way to destroy the Shade. It only covers the first few weeks, in which he picked up "Zinc" as a nickname for an unclear reason - his true name is still unknown. Zinc's purpose in this group was to design robots, built to enter shade infected areas deemed too dangerous for any dragon.

A second journal, heavily damaged, seems to tell of happier times, when Zinc made friends among the group. Pages have sustained water damage to the point where it's impossible to tell who any of his comrades were, but from his writing he appeared to think well of most of them. The section most intact tells of a gift he received — a necklace, of a sort that every group member wore. Apparently, the necklaces were meant as a good luck charm, to help those wearing find their way home after an expedition.

The third journal, chronologically, speaks of Zinc's frustrations with some members of the group, including its leader, who he felt had lost sight of the group's purpose. Instead of Shade destruction, they were working on ways to harness its power, with the team split on what the correct course of action was - outright destruction, or hopefully making it safe and useful to dragonkind. This culminated in the leader installing a Shade power core in what Zinc claimed to be his latest and greatest robot against his wishes, and the subsequent fracture of what trust remained within the group.

The last journal found is much shorter than the others, and appears hastily scrawled. It tells of how, within a matter of days, the Shade robot went rogue, attacking and slaughtering the inhabitants of the fortress. Zinc's records list off the team members killed, additionally mentioning that while not all bodies were accounted for, no survivors were found. Nowhere is it explained how Zinc himself managed to survive the attack. The final pages detail the imperial's preparations as he planned his trek across Sornieth, in an attempt to hunt down and destroy the rogue robot.

There is another journal, but it shouldn't be possible for it to exist. It still appears to have been written by the imperial, and details his chase of the robot, following the wreckage it left in his wake. He eventually caught up with it far away from home, in the Shifting Expanse. There was a battle, and he managed to smash the robot into pieces, but took grievous injuries in the process. Zinc crawled to the shade of a nearby cave to try to treat his injuries, but eventually bled out and died in the middle of the desert. Despite detailing his own death, this bloodstained journal was found in the fortress like the others. Its validity is severely doubted.

My thoughts fade away, like a Dream after Waking.

The old bio from when he was in Holli's clan.
ZINC
mathy-physicsy professional || "... I'm sorry, my greatest creation..." -- Upon killing Dapper Spacedad in SHG.

smart, mighty bot overlord, first dragon of this clan (@hollikyo's clan) to win; thus making him even more of an mvp

Notes
+ This dragon is not affiliated with Zinc, but I thought I'd dedicate him a dragon anyway, because he deserves it. This is also the first bio I've ever finished. That is............... amazincing.
+ If you're reading this, Zinc, hello! Have a good day!
Winner of "fancy" dragons, Zinc was ultimately savage. Ripping a mace from a dragon just in the bloodbath alone, we all knew this would be good. Zinc's tactic is mainly telling other dragons stories, hunting for other tributes with them, or finding resources with them, only to kill them the next day. He killed another by throwing a knife into their head, but then it's quiet. It's quiet for three or so day and nights, and then that's when it happens-- Zinc kills Dapper Spacedad. Zinc shoves one of his competition off a cliff, and the next day, the last two competitors died anticlimactically, leaving Zinc the true champion. But at what cost?

Zinc has been in the clan as long as the next person-- probably best known for his work on automated bot programming, he doesn't seem to appear much or for long when conversations go on for a long time. This being said, he's sort of always there, and when one of his bots starts malfunctioning, or someone mentions him, he shows up. Zircon doesn't really get how he teleports, but she finds his work with the robots astounding, and his inputs, however few, interesting, and his sentences funny-- "SPAAAAAAAAAACE" -- Er, that's just Arcanist bot. Don't ask. She's still trying to find more puns, and is spending an awful lot of time zinc-ing up some new ones. There's usually some kind of tendency between her and puns, but right now, there doesn't seem to be a lot of chemistry between the two.
