Matriarch
Leader of the Clan "My Blindness doesn't limit me, but releases me." Adelaide was born deep in the Windswept Plateau. Her parents were part of a mixed clan, that often employed Skydancers as Nursery Watchers, due to their overprotective nature towards nests. However, something happened in the nests, one of the older, already hatched hatchlings got too rambuncous and ended up coliding with the egg that held her. The Skydancer in charge could tell something had gone wrong, and attempted to remove the egg, but was caught in the process. Despite the claims that something would be wrong with the hatchling, Adelaide's egg was returned to the nest, and allowed to hatch in the hopes that it would not be something debilitating. Unfortunately, it was. Adelaide was born blind and semi-lame on her left side. Immediately there was talk of removing her, as she would not be able to live a life without the help of others. There was much debate within the clan, until it was decided that she would be allowed to live, but once she reached adulthood, she would have to leave the clan. It wasn't a clan that could set aside resources just for her, as it was still a rather small clan at the time. Her time growing from hatchling to adult was no different than any other dragon. The clan made sure to try and make sure she would at the very least survive until adulthood. In the back of their minds, they had hoped she would show some sign of sight, or ability that would allow her to be useful to the clan....but unfortunately she did not. Shortly before she reached adulthood, while she was exploring one day, she stumbled across a small Silver Kitsune just outside of the nesting area. It had been injured, breaking one of it's paws which was greatly hindering it's ability to walk. Without thinking much about it, Adelaide picked it up in her mouth and trotted back to her nest and began to tend to the small creature. As it turned out, Adelaide was born with a strong motherly instinct. The clan took this into consideration, but ultimately still decided to outcast her. Their reasoning on this was while she might be a great mother, she would not be a great protector due to her disability. If something were to happen to the eggs or the hatchlings under her care, she would not be able to act fast enough. The Silver Kitsune was named Kitto, and had been traveling when it had gotten caught in a snare set out by the local Longnecks. He heard what the clan was planning, and he was having none of it. This dragon had saved his life, and he was determined to pay her back for that. So when the time came, and Adelaide became an adult only to be told to leave, Kitto followed her. They traveled together for a very long time. Adelaide could not move very fast with her hindered limb and blindness, but Kitto made up for the lack of sight. They stayed as guests in many different clans but ultimately were not welcomed permanently, before Adelaide had a stroke of genius hit her. Normally not the ones to take initiative, Tundra dragons like herself were often seen as slow and stupid....but now a thought hit her like a lightning bolt. If no clan wanted her thanks to her disability, then she should just make her own clan! She confided this thought in Kitto, who agreed readily. The two had become very close, and Kitto had annointed himself as somewhat of a guide fox, keeping dragons off her bad side, and alerting her to hazards in her way or that could be coming. He would follow her no matter what she decided to do. It took quite a long time, for her to find an area that wasn't already claimed by a clan....but she finally found a glade within the domain of the Gladekeeper, on the edge between the Everbloom Gardens and the Wild Sanctum. She set to work building up an entrance to a burrow, while Kitto spread the word via many of the different beasts to keep an eye out for dragons who seemed lost. It didn't take long for the first dragons to arrive, seemingly drawn in by tales of a clan that would accept them no matter what. Adelaide proved herself to be kind and gentle to these new faces. It didn't matter to her if they'd been outcasted, or even left on their own accord. She cooed and awed over each one. Mothering them even if they weren't hatchlings. She accepted them all, and still does.
