Biography

Giarys

1041.png
When she was born, she immediately felt left out. The smallest of her clutch, Giarys was trampled on by her siblings. Though her parents assured her every day that yes, of course they loved her, Giarys never believed them. She wasn't helped by the constant teasing from her siblings.

Finally she cracked.

She waited until she had the cover of darkness to sneak out of her nest, where she fled as far away from Arcane territory as she could.

Heading in the general southeastern direction Giarys traveled for what felt like a week up and up she went until she could go no further. She passed out from hunger and was weak from travel. She woke up to see one adult and four little spirals hovering about her. The adult came forward and introduced himself as Quincy as he slid his glasses back up his face with one foreclaw. He helped Giarys to her feet and the four little spirals clustered around her in silence as they took her back to their lair. Giarys was welcomed by Clan DarksBane. They liked travelers here. It gave them more stories to tell they said. She learned that the spiral children with Quincy were his sons and daughters, and that one of the sisters had gone to live with their grandparents. They all had so much character here! Giarys thought Clan DarksBane was pretty neat, but she still felt something was missing. When she left this lair it was all smiles and waves (and a bit of food and water for traveling!). She was happy to have met them all, but it was time to see more.

Even as determined as she was, Giarys still got lost. She traveled around in circles until her food supply ran out. So she decided to try hunting. It didn't go so well due to her run in with a serthis at least twice her size. Terrified, she ran away fron it in the opposite direction of where she had set up camp on the outskirts of The Wandering Contagion. She fell down a hill and hit her head on a large pink crystal. Before she blacked out, she realized that she was back where she started, The Starfall Isles.

When she awoke, she was in a crystal cave. A coatl with a soft face came to check on her and was surprised to find her awake. "You must have took quite the tumble" she said. Giarys did not reply, though the motherly dragon continued to tend to her head wound. "You've been unconscious for a whole day. We weren't sure if you would wake up or not with the size of this gash on your noggin. I'm glad you did though. My name's Lita by the way." she said with a soft smile. After another day of being treated by Lita, Giarys decided to explore a the cave a little. She ran into a large grey and red snapper. "Hey, you're the little one I found in the edge of the Starwood Strand. You doing okay?" She simply nodded her head, then went on. She was just kind of wandering around for a while when Lita found her again. "Hey sweetie. Our clan leader would like to talk to you. Nothing to be afraid of." Giarys nodded and followed Lita to a large room near the back of the cave with high ceilings that spray light from the opening above. Upon a bed of pillows and fine silks surrounded by crystals glowing of every color imaginable, sat a lavender mirror dragon. She introduced herself as Pandora, the leader of The Children of The Celestial Instrument. She asked Giarys a few questions like what was her name and how she came upon the clan. Giarys answered truthfully and Pandora offered her to stay as long as she needs for her wound to heal. Giarys would have declined if she wasn't feeling so dizzy. After her meeting with the leader she went back to the infirmary. She met a tundra named Chrysanthemum who made her an herbal concoction to thwart her dizziness. The medicine made her drowsy so she slept.

Giarys finally opened up to the clan members after a week of staying with them. The Crystalspine Reaches reminded her of her birth clan, except here she had a mother-figure who actually seemed to love her. She decided she would stay with the Children for a while. Her head wound left her with dizzy spells that could almost make her faint and Lita was too concerned about her health to let her leave. Chrysanthemum's remedies worked quite well besides the drowsiness and Percival, an alchemist and healer, was working on a potion that might make the dizziness go away forever. During her stay she learned many skills. Lucifer, the snapper who found her unconscious body, taught her about hunting. Razorwing, the clan's aerialist, helped her learn to fly. Chrysanthemum taught her about the different herbs she could find on her travels. Each member taught her something different and useful to her. When the potion was finally finished she hesitantly tried it. She wasn't sure if it would work or turn her into some mutation, but the first was worth the try. Thankfully, she did not grow any extra limbs. A few days went by without any dizzy spells. She then decided that she had stayed long enough, at least a month. She wanted to continue her travels. She thanked the Children for taking her in and left, not without a sorrowful hug from everyone and a map made by the clan's historian, Breakfast Jello.

She flew over the Ashfall Waste, it was way too hot for her! When night comes she was resting in the Tangled Wood. Glowing mushroom keep her company during her walk, she wanted to explore more but she was also very tired. While she sat under a big tree, her mind lost in thoughs, a soft voice spoke directly in her ear. Scared to death, she glance over her shoulder and eyegaze Rend. The coatls seems pretty puzzled with her reaction, he was sure she had see him in the darkness. After an embarassing moment he guide her trough vegetation, leading her to his leader. They give her something to call home, at least for a few day. She was surrounded by dragons that was warriors, mages or a combination of the two. Judged too weak to be able to survive on her own, she accept the offer of some focused training. Her progress was slow but significant and she found some pride in her own growth. Lapis was her first friend in that lair, Giarys often swap place with Aquamarine to help her look over her nest. She was an entusiastic mother and her joy highly influenced the young coatl. She found herself thinking about her own hatchlings, they must be adults by now. What knid of life they choosed? And what about Cerin, her first mate? She never felt loved by him, that's for sure. She start looking around, searching for someone that can ease those wounds. But she didn't want to cause any trouble here, since all males was already paired she postpone her resolve to another day. She still have time to build a new life. That's what she want to believe. When the eggs hatched, she flew away.

After a long and tiring flight Giarys crosses the border into the Nature territories. The forests are dense and the fauna is unfamiliar to what lived back at home. Giarys looks around for a safe place to stay, but every time she believes she has found somewhere to rest she is confronted by a creature who already calls that place their home. Eventually, as she wanders through the unfamiliar flora and fauna she finally comes across a secluded lair hidden within the trees. She approaches exhausted from her long journey, only to be greeted by a slightly hostile clan leader and her mate. However Eztli and Xoxchitl note how tired she is and let her temporarily join the clan in exchange of helping with the young coatls they have trouble understanding. Soon after Giarys recovers she meets the tree coatls. They become great friends, although Quetzalcoatl is a handful, and Kukulkan is a bit strange to say the least. Giarys finds a small family with them, but they are still not quite what she's looking for. Maybe one day she will return for a visit. However for now she once again takes flight, leaving behind the small clan where she lived teaching delinquent Coatls how to hunt and fly, and also making yet more family to leave behind.

After leaving the little family she had made in the Nature territories, Giarys ocne again ended up in the Tangled Wood. She landed near a small grove to rest, thankful that her dark plumage naturally helped her blend in with the murky, purple and blue forest. Her feathers didn't help to conceal her from the heat-seeking eyes of the Mirror, a white tiger named Hagia. Hagia skittered across the ground, as Mirrors tend to do, straight for Giarys, greeting her and introducing themselves as the Atriarch of a local, somewhat nameless clan. After Giarys explained her situation to the more-than-willing-to-listen Hagia, Hags brought her back to their lair.
Upon reaching the lair, Giarys met a tiny fighty fae - Seafae. Sea was small and quiet, but was bristling with strength which was obvious to anyone who dared lay their eyes on her. Giarys had never seen such a powerful fae and was immediately entranced by the minuscule creature. Seafae's coli buddies, Astralumbra and Vesper, encouraged Sea to get out there and make friends with the newcomer - and they hit it off immediately, shattering the language barrier entirely through the use of body language and the occasional translator.
Giarys was very glad to have made a wonderful friend.

Giarys arrive just in time to celebrate the Riot of Rot with a true Plague clan, learning that they not only spread diseases, but friendship spreads much the same. She left however to make room for some visiting Arcane dragons.

Uh-oh, looks this lonely little Coatl wandered a little too far from her lair (107881 Apotheocrisy), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the urge to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here.
