Saggitarius, named after the constellation, was never truly happy in the clan his mother found love in. So, naturally, he rebelled after seeing his brother go off. He wanted to spread his wings and find a new place to stay, preferably where his wings wouldn't get frostbitten if he strayed too far from the hearth. His mother, Cygnus, balked at the idea of another of her sons leaving. "Stars don't move away," she said, but Saggitarius didn't listen.

He traveled far, far away from his frozen homeland. "Where better better for stars to hide," he thought, "than in the light of day?" Though perhaps not the most sound logic, it was excuse enough for him. The Skydancer set off for the Sunbeam Ruins, leaving for warmer climes like his brother before him. It was a wearying journey for the young dragon, and many clans were too busy with the Thundercrack Carnivale to offer much assistance to the lone Skydancer. Despite this, he did make it safely to the warm, welcoming lands of the Lightweaver. Equally warm and welcoming was Path's End, a riverside clan near the waterfall that drained into the Sea of a Thousand Currents. Sagittarius was not the only newcomer to these lands, and he found companionship in a young Spiral known as Ramses who had left his home with the dream of one day meeting the Lightweaver herself. Though their reasons for traveling were vastly different, the two were glad not to be making the transition alone. The two grew close during the time they spent together. Unfortunately, Path's End was not as perfect a fit for Sagittarius as it was for his friend, and he eventually grew restless. It seemed that, despite his mother's words, he would be moving away yet again. Spurred on by the festivities of the Mistral Jamboree and assured by Ramses that he would always be welcomed back if he ever chose to return, the Skydancer set off again. He received a gold necklace as a farewell present from his friend, something to remember him by, and wore it as he set forth on his travels.

Continuing southward towards the Shifting expanse, Saggitarius managed to run head first into a storm. Surviving a crash landing he found himself stuck in Carrion Canyon with a broken wing. Fortunately he was found before long by a group of dragons lead by the tiny fae, Venatori. They agreed to let him share their food and stay safe within their group until he healed and in return he would assist in minding the young hatchlings and share stories of other lands that he had visited in Sornieth.

It was while travelling with Venatori's group that he first became inspired to train to become stronger. It was also where he met a beautiful female skydancer with whom he sired his first hatchling. However, the good times did not last and after losing both his mate and offspring in a tragic accident, he started feeling a little homesick. Understanding his need to leave, Venatori's group presented him with a farewell gift: a set of simple gold bracelets to match the necklace that he had always worn.
