Biography
Mineral
Fantastic Shadow | Mechanic
Fantastic Shadow | Mechanic
While technically the junior mechanic for the Fantastic Shadow, Mineral sees to the majority of the day to day repairs that are required to keep the airship in top condition. His jovial attitude and willingness to explain things makes him a hit among the clan's hatchlings, many of whom find the airship and its workings fascinating. Mineral often visits Akeldama for replacement parts or unique metal gizmos that Vulx needs for one of his new projects. These visits are more than purely business as the pair are close friends and go together every week to Ifrit's card games. Almost never truly in a hurry, Mineral always has time to stop and say hello making him much better liked than Vulx. Despite this, he has no real close friends outside of the crew and Akeldama as his work keeps him too busy to devote much time to proper socialization. He doesn't mind this, especially since he considers the majority of the dragons in the lair a friend of some sort or another. There is one dragon in the lair that Mineral truly dislikes, and that is SpareParts. Mineral finds the bogsneak to be reckless and lacking in proper safety precautions. He will admit a grudging respect for the transit system SpareParts developed to facilitate movement around the ever expanding city, though it is notable that he never uses them. |
A well-traveled dragon before he settled into the clan, Mineral has been around his fair share of flying contraptions and machines. Ever since he was a hatchling he longed to soar the skies, and while his magic could have taken him anywhere he wanted to go, Mineral didn't trust just the ether to lift his substantial frame. In his travels he helped fix every flying machine he came across, no matter how ramshackle or amateur. He's flown most of them too. Then a rumor found him, of a flying ship that dwarfed anything he had ever flown, hiding somewhere in the Tangled Woods. It took quite a bit of asking his contacts before Mineral was able to track it down. With map in hand and heart set, he set off for the lair. When he arrived the size of the Fantastic Shadow shattered even his wildest imaginings. A ship on this grand scale would need a mechanic or a pilot. Unfortunately for Mineral. The Fantastic Shadow already had both of those things. However, Mineral was not so young a dragon to be cowed by such a simple fact. He loitered around the ship, making fast friends with Vulx in the process. The wildclaw appreciated Mineral taking on some of the more mundane tasks, and Mineral was finally able to get an in to the crew. Once he made friends with Vulx, the rest of the crew was easy. They appreciated having someone slightly more focused on the maintenance end of things, and Autumn agreed to let Mineral pilot the ship when they were testing new features. Despite their vastly different personalities, Vulx is still Mineral's favourite member of the crew, but no matter what, this old snapper feels like he's finally come home. |
