Biography
★★★ Historian of the Stardust Clan ★★★
xxxxxxxxxxxx |
★★★ Many would describe Otuvian’s mind as similar to the glittering stars above: bright and infinite. As the eldest member of the Stardust Clan, Otuvian remembered everything—every member, every dragon who passed through, every traitor, every role, and even every death that occurred in the clan; his mind was filled with both the most joyous moments and the hardest times that the clan had endured since its foundation. His memory was of course his most valuable attribute, and while many of his clanmates sought him out solely for advice, wisdom, astrological expressions, or specific past events, Stargazer and Starcatcher knew that he was worth so much more. Otuvian, at one time a young hatchling, loved books. Or rather, he loved the things he learned from books. He had read the Sornieth lorebooks more times than he could recall (actually, he could recall—he had read the histories of Sornieth 1,354 times and each Bounty of the Elements lore 2,376 times) and he had studied every dragon breed and every region. When he was old enough, the intelligent Imperial began seeing Tomo at his Trivia Tablet. Otuvian learned to write from Tomo’s scribe Scribbles, and since then he has done little else beyond reading and recording, learning and understanding the world around him. Otuvian’s adventures were limited, as he was never the audacious type, but the Imperial did travel for many years into his adulthood. Stargazer and Starcatcher would find Otuvian during his travels to the Tangled Wood, and Otuvian, having never found the time to study the stars, happily joined when they asked. If you asked him, Otuvian would say that he was quite proud to be the first member of the Stardust clan; he felt that perhaps in a way, he had founded the clan with Stargazer and Starcatcher. Otuvian, with his pure and humble heart, would never claim any credit, but Stargazer had practically named the Imperial his secondary leader after Starcatcher. Among the madness that often ate away at Stargazer and his research, Otuvian had always been there to write down every discovery, every equation, and every detail so that Stargazer never completely lost his sanity to the stress of his work. As the clan scribe, Otuvian took pleasure in writing. He wrote everything from fiction to messages to notes for Stargazer’s research. Once the clan grew in numbers, the other dragons would leave parchment scrolls and hefty tablets for Otuvian as gifts of appreciation for his work. Otuvian gladly accepted them, and continued to inscribe the stories and sorrows of Sornieth, indelibly etching every memory into existence. With time, Otuvian would find that he liked recording events better than making up his own or translating messages. He enjoyed observing his clanmates, seeing the strange and often entertaining trouble they got into, and preserving those memories forever. Every dragon’s story added another chapter to his own. Historical inscribing then became Otuvian’s primary specialty, and he was very skilled in crafting the dragon language just right. Otuvian would spend hours locked up in the clan study, printing and reprinting and rereading everything that Stargazer and Starcatcher researched for the time, trying to make sense of their notes and details. Eventually, Otuvian's wings had even taken on the color of burnt parchment as he aged day after day in the library. He was given his own library within the Snowsquall Tundra to work in and store the books and scrolls he had collected in his lifetime. In his old age, the strong Imperial even had to resort to using a pair of reading glasses, but he didn’t mind so long as he got to keep reading and keep writing. Many feared the day that would bring Otuvian’s death. Although there were some who only desired the Imperial’s life for his talent, many more dreaded thinking of the kind Imperial simply leaving the world of Sornieth. Otuvian would smile softly at their concerns, but there was a twinkle in his wise eyes that always gave the same answer: “My time is not over yet, young ones, for I have many more stories to read, and even more to live.” | xxxxxxxxxxxx |
