The wind goes streaming by, upon it birdsong does fly. Below, squirrels hurry, claws upon bark. Bees borrow nectar sharing pollination. The ant colonies crawl through the earth, remembering the virtues of fungus. Oft forgotten but no less important than the trees they touch with a million ribbons, the mycelium holds the earth together. So even as lifegiving rain falls it isn't washed away. Quietly, they pulse and grow. A dragon opens his eyes with a vow. All shall I protect. All shall I embody. |

Quercus Raceae was raised by a family of dryads and has honed his senses to the forest but is loathe to linger anywhere barren of trees. Quercus has learnt the skill of lying still amid the flora for a long time, such that many beasts and unwary dragons of other Flights may pass him by. The Nature dragon believes that with training he can become one with the trees. Quercus is highly cautious with any dragons seeking an encounter. His disposition on a given day may be read in how he dresses. Dense foliage and brambles? He doesn't want to be seen by outsiders, clearly. Carrying flowers in bloom and loose-flowing clothes? He's more open to a meeting. When the Stanzascale clan first encountered him, Quercus hissed dire retribution upon interlopers with axe or fire from the forest shadows. As time has passed he has come to better understand the intentions of the clan. They even directly seek his counsel in matters that concern his forest, or dryads in general. Quercus and Illuminata are cordial, both working for the interests of beastclans in their own way. While the Skydancer was initially hostile to Pako, having an unflattering image of farming. In time he came to see the Tundra's gentle nature, and keen scrutiny revealed he was no less gentle on the land he tended. Ryndlite and Quercus rarely meet, but they have been surprisingly tolerant of one another. Though Quercus wouldn't call himself comfortable with fire, he understands that when not running rampant, it has its own part to play in life's cycles. |
